Long Beach passes measure approving drafting of pay reduction initiative
Holding signs that proclaimed, "I Am Long Beach," several dozen city employees protested a proposed ballot measure Tuesday that could eventually knock back pay for non-public safety workers by two years.

The City had no choice. With Brown's upcoming massive tax increase, the massive extra cost to States of the new health care law, and the terrible impact of obama's economic policies on the Port shipping volume the City is in deep trouble.
At least the public employees have jobs for life whether they do anything meaningful or not. That's a sweet deal these days.

city workers need to remember that at 2010 levels they make 30% to 50% more for doing the exact same jobs that others do every day for way less.
Is it a surprise that the City paying sometimes twice what a job is worth on the open market would be unrealistic?
