I'm not sure that the "already underpaid" public educators could survive without their pensions, let alone a decrease in pay.

I think this is a great idea! In fact, why don't we all ask all businesses to cut our pay in half that they they can employ twice as many people. Unemployment will decrease overnight! What a fantastic idea! The middle class will continue to have our incomes decreased while corporate America can continue to bring in windfall profits! That's the American way!

Simple 5 point plan to fix this issue on a long-term basis:

1. Out with the "old", in with the "new"

2. Do away with the outdated pension system

3. Performance based pay increases that are not tied to "teaching" the PSSA's in any fashion

4. Allow teachers to go on strike in obvious protest to items 1 through 3

5. Go Reagan on them and tell them to break the Union, end the strike and get back to work

LOL. If I were a real teacher I would be concerned. As it is, I will continue to fill in for Jimmy and defend the teachers union. I hit on a couple of cute female teachers at Coconut Joe's last night, but as usual I struck out and headed up to the Zone at around 10.

And if the above poster was really me, he wouldn't have struck out nor been within 10 City blocks of the zone.
And for The poster "Withheld" IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN THAT WAY! Don't mean to cock-block your wet dream but that won't happen.

You're not "cock-blocking" my wet dream. I'm just offering a solution that realistically I know won't ever be implemented but makes a whole lot of sense.

San Diego and San Jose Voters Approve Sweeping Public Sector Pension Reforms

On June 5, more than two-thirds of voters in both San Diego, the state’s second-largest city, and San Jose, its third largest, approved sweeping reforms to curtail government employee pensions.

Experts say the elections are important because it shows strong public support in two major cities for changes that many municipalities may need to pursue amid an ongoing weak economy.

“I have a feeling just because of the wave of anger, outcry throughout the nation on public pension benefits, that this will probably start serving as a model,”

San Diego chief operating officer Jay Goldstone said about the city’s vote for a 401(k)-style plan for new employees.

“Voter approval was 66 to 67%. That sends a very loud message.”
