I bought a building in Woonsocket for 72000, they have the building asess at 296000 my taxes are 10800 how is that legal i couldn't get a loan for anything close to that, and I don't understand how a bank appraiser asses it at 163000 but the city the company uses has it at 296000 how can 2 appraises be so far apart the city is robbing the tax payers enough is enough we need a tax reform that is ridiculous I'm hoping the new mayor can bring things in order she is definitely a no nonsense mayor she's knocking down houses and on the right track I hope she can do something about these taxes I no it will be hard , but that's the only way people are gonna want to buy here.

I just bought a house here in Woonsocket, and I must say, the taxes are insane. They equate to more than 60% of my mortgage payment and make up nearly 40% of my monthly payment with all other escrow items. The house I bought only appraised for a few thousand more than my purchase price, yet the city accesses my property for $55,000 more than the bank did. Sheer insanity. Thankfully it doesn't appear that the cost for trash pick up will survive this coming fiscal year.

Home Taxes Out Of Control. I was looking at homes for sale in Woonsocket. OMG they are giving the homes away. Why so cheep. Then I saw the taxes. The Home Taxes Are Out Of Control. It's a shame to see people loosing their homes over taxes. I talked to a lot of owners and they have no choice to sell. Between taxes and mortgage they can,t afford it.

I own a house and business in this city and I'm considering selling now before I won't be able to anymore. Not only are the taxes insane, there seems to be more section 8 and not income housing than there every has been. Basically, this city is slowly going down the tubes.
