i own property on 271 fillmore ave in buffalo that i am willing to give to this family. this property is a four unit building with some water damage to the front units, back units are liveable without major repairs. building is structurally sound but needs tlc, with the opportunity to live rent free when finished. had invested thousands in major mechanical repairs.

I would think the board of health would make them move out of there. there health is on the line here. Please someone tell them this and try ot convince them into expecting the apt. the people on this site offered. What wonderful people. The winter is around the corner. Also adult services of Buffalo should be able to help them. The help is there only in buffalo believe me. I hope they have a case manager from ss or red cross. God bless them and the people helping them.

If the house next door is vacant then i think some one should give them that house or at lease let them stay there. I have two empty bedrooms in my house they are more than welcome to come and stay with me and my husband.

There's always one in the bunch (Bob).

Is the Red Cross helping this family? Or how about the Salvation Army?

What a shame that they are afraid of ppl stealing their stuff that they dont want to leave their burnt out home for fear of losing what little is left.

This family could dig an underground bunker like that man who was featured on national news. There is a lot to be said for geothermal heating/cooling and the safety of digging a burrow. This family could qualify for "green" tax credits.

I get nervous when a family is exposed like this in the news because it attracts crime to that location. The bunker guy was badly beaten not long after he was featured in the public's eye.

I GUESS I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY ANYONE WOULD OWN A HOME WITHOUT HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE??? IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO HAVE A HOME WITH NO MORTGAGE, THE $500 TO $1000 A YEAR HOMEOWNERS BILL SHOULD BE FEASIBLE. GOOD LUCK TO THEM.

I would hope that someone would pass ths message onto the Limas. If they are in need of a safe warm and reliable place for their dogs, even for just a short time, please have them contact me. I own a dog business and would be glad to help at no cost to them. futurenet@roadrunner.com

Hi Tami,
Most insurance companies will not insure a property in the city of Buffalo that is next to a vacant home.. The reason is exactly what happened to this family..They are targets for arsons..

All of you (except Bob) are really wonderful. I work with the elderly looking to go back to work I am their job coordinator and advocate..it is very difficult on limited income to let go of what little you have left for all your years of toil. As for Bob ..you are a real jerk..let's hope nothing like this or worse ever happens in your life. I am not in Erie Co. or my agency would help..sorry but luck to all of you..note that Office of the Aging 55 and over will help these people if their age qualifys.

This town has become the poverty center of the US!
Buffalo is a Shanty Town known for its beleagured hopless and illiterate people and disgusting ways of existance. Alarmingly an attraction of 3rd and 4th world refugees!!!
The day is comming here in Buffalo where breakins will involve the STEALING OF FOOD!

Its good to see so many people offering help to this couple. The news should maybe become a drop off site - we have plenty of blankets, hats, gloves, coats etc.

The house is not suitable for living and housing inspector should be dispatched to determine if an emergency demolition is required. There is liability with a damaged structure in a neighborhood. Unfortunately, as was the case with my administration, these types of outpourings often attract thieves and robbers who want to get their take on the donated goods.

You are so right. The city has gone from bad to worse. Once nice neighborhoods like Lovejoy and Kaisertown are being infested by crackheads and welfare scum.

That's a lie.

I'm a millionaire, a war hero, an astute stock investor, an advisor to Goldman Sachs, a convicted felon, a lover of smelly testicles and I live in Kaisertown.

Stop by and I'll turn your face into creamed corn.
I love creamed corn. YUM!
