The yard was filled with trash and nobody sees the mother for about nine months and nobody calls authorities. The broker had to do so. Sounds like Robert has a lot of mental issues and suffers from hoarding. I would have called adult protective services a long time ago.

This is just terrible!! Why did it take a year for someone to check out what was happening to this poor handicapped senior lady? If the house had been cited to clean up where was the inspector to check out the property with the owner? I am sorry, but there is no excuse for this kind of oversight in local government. If something looks wrong..be pro active and find out if there is a problem. Did this man starve his mother to death because he is mentally ill, lazy or just plain evil? Did she die pleading for a cup of water? Are we still human beings or has self centerdness taken us away from being concerned for each other? And what about her doctor? What about the mail man? What about social security? How come nobody noticed her missing and a crazy man running a compost heap in the middle of the block? And 27 cats? He can feed cats and not bury his mom? What is wrong with the world? Neighbors need to get involved...that could be your mother when you are gone! Who is watching out for those who have no one? Who? Get involved!

It's called mental illness. There is nothing wrong with this world, there's just a very small percentage of mentally ill patients who refuse or neglect to get treatment. Stories like this happen a few times a year in America. Hardly enough to warrant a rant such as yours. Sad yes, a national crisis? Hardly. We don't need MORE government oversight looking for a needle in a haystack such as this. They're too busy servicing nutcases like yourself.

What bothers me is that someone claims he said his mom was fine, had good days and bad days, and said this recently.

And that no one noticed the smell months ago. trashy yard does not smell like decomposing remains.

I hope she found peace.

I beg to differ, because there is something wrong in a world where things like this go on and nobody cares. I grew up in a village outside of Springfield Ohio and as a kid I was bothered by the nosey old ladies in our neighborhood. But I have to say that whenever something wasn't right someone went to see why. I'd love those ole biddies back as my neighbors now.

There has always been mental illness but not allowed to go on unchecked like now. Because of over tolerance of deviant behavior and a PC world this goes on and will be more prevalent in the future until we get real about how we deal with social outcasts.
