Consistent with the principle that there is a silver lining in every cloud, the use of hard earned taxpayer money by the State of California to encourage responsible homeownership to as many families as can possibly qualify seems like an excellent way to encumber Californians with a lifetime of debt for the privilege of "owning" heavily taxed Government controlled homes.
On the other hand, the resultant loss of renters does not reduce the heavy tax burden suffered by landlords, because their burdensome tax obligations are computed by the "value" of homes that were previously rented - homes that, "as the housing market improves", are based on the inflated "value" of those homes.
One would think the terrible easy-mortgage-debt related financial collapse and the associated structural unemployment that "the experts" engineered would have taught us a lesson.
