The cover was tacky, and like the article pointed out, doesn't address the fact that Blacks and Latinos that qualified for conventional loans were directed to the sub-prime market. Contrary to popular belief, the loan paperwork did get you directed into that "pile".

A word to the wise, you can do your loans sight unseen and have the loan pre-approved before they see your skin color to discriminate against you.

And never, ever answer the so-called voluntary questions about race on the application, other than marking "white".

I see the MAD-DOG CHRIST KILLERS are at it again. These jesus killing SO-CALLED jew COWARDS would NEVER EVER say things like this about whites... because they know what would happen. They think WE are WEAK. Israel & its loyalist abroad have been engaged in a concerted propaganda effort to DEMONIZE the BLACK MAN. These SO-CALLED jew RATS RARELY fights its OWN
Battles unless their opponent is so completely HOPELESS & armed with nothing more than STICKS& STONES, like the palestinians. Because the COWARD SO- CALLED jews is DETERMINED not to risk its OWN BLOOD & STOLEN RESOURES to achieve its strategic objectives, it endeavors to influence western powers (WHITES) with strong military might to do it for them. HISTORICALLY, SO- CALLED jews have ALWAYS PRIDED themselves on MANIPULATING the GOYEEM into doing the dirty work, not only because they are COWARDS & CUNNING, but also because when things go WRONG the BLAME could then be passed off on the GENTILE PROXY (WHITES) with the SO-CALLED jews getting off scot free. These creatures KILLED JESUS CHRIST!!! so you KNOW WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT US.Keep your eye on them.

Doesn't bother me at all. Most smart people waited for the housing bublle to burst. Reminded me of the tech bubble.

I read books on anything concerning purchasing of a home. I went to the library people!
Ran the numbers before I looked for a home.According to the realtor I could buy a $160K home. They care only about whether I can afford the payments. Their salary is based on this. They don't care that you have to furnish, security, homeowners insurance, heat/cool the home. They don't care that you have to pay other utilities, groceries, more insurance, car, etc, etc, etc.
I also had to contribute to my retirement savings, emergency fund, other investments.
Also wanted to do activities such as travel, sailing, etc. because I had a lot of vacation.(up to 7 weeks now).

Bought a $70k condo in a gated community(2car,2bath,2bed) Even talked the price down. Now it's worth over $200k and paid off.
I used a buyer broker.Used two different mechanical/electrical inspectors.Had an attorney.Had a Title search done, bought Title Insurance and made sure (in writing)the Title Insurance specifically protected me.
Avoided PMI.
Didn't need a credit score...I used a processed called Mutual Underwriting.
Among other things I've learned to do all of this by "reading" at the library.

If stupid people wanted to buy a home that they could not afford or get those interest only zero down loans this is what happens.

Since I have purchased two homes in Europe.
Three years ago bought a $470k short sale ocean ICW view condo for $150k from a white couple in Florida. They also got in over their head and the bank is suing them for the $320K difference so I guess no race is immune to stupidity. Brazilians and Europeans have been buying up many condos there.
Property values are going back up.

All of these low reasonably priced homes you can get at 2.25% and people are upset over a cartoon on a magazine cover? LOL!

Get over it.
The rebound has started.
And I already have a 400% return on Hovnanian Enterprises Inc.

There was a reason they were directed to sub-prime.
I'm black. I didn't have a problem and I did everything in person.
They knew I could afford the payments.
They should have gotten a place they could afford and been more educated about purchasing a home.
You can't be ignorant when making the biggest purchase of your life.

I was never directed to any sub-prime loans. However, I think, like most things in a racist society, that the bankstas were more likely to direct Blacks that qualified for conventional loans into the more lucrative (for greedy lenders) sub-prime market.

There was extensive research on this issue, concerning the redlining of Blacks into the sub-prime market to maximize profits.

I can't be directed to something I did not ask for.
Are people so clueless?
Two years ago I wanted to do a streamline refinance(10yr) on my condo. I had no problem getting it because my FICO score was 749 but the guy wanted me to borrow more on top of what I owed and wouldn't stop after I told him no. So I said forget it and I walked out.
Why can't people do this? Unless a gun was to their head.

Well I decided to just pay it off.

I agree that people were pushed towards sub-prime loans--especially minorities, who were eligible for regular loans. This was horrible, and I believe a crime was committed and the brokers should have been punished. But these brokers were of all races. And the customers should never sign something without reading up on it, and educating themselves first. Signing something without reading or researching it os stupid. When someone is trying to trick you into doing something, they are hoping that you do not read about it, and take their word for it. As for this one guy going on and on ranting about white people...well we, as blacks, can do alot of things. Instead of victimizing ourselves, we can work hard. Instead of rambling on, we can educate ourselves. There is no difference between us in Brooklyn, and whites in Long Island. We have the cars, the clothing, the flat screen TV, etc. You know what we don't have? You know what makes our neighborhood different? WE are willing to throw garbage on the ground in our own neighborhood. We are willing to treat our neighborhood like trash. The only difference is how we treat our surroundings, and the integrity we take in our work. We need to work hard, not complain about "so called Jews." Second of all, when you, whoever you are, keep saying "So called Jews," what is that supposed to mean? So called? So what is implicit in this statement then? what is the alternate. i don't think the jews are hiding their ethnicity and pretending to be jewish. So called? How about we learn how to speak properly, first. Learn the difference between an adverb and an adjective, and learn how to use them? We should all start with ourselves. My eyes were hurting from reading some of these poorly written paragraphs. Good lord.

I wish I was debt free.

I have leveraged the house, but I am not underwater by a longshot . I am going to retire within a year, I hope, and and move to a less expensive area.

You bring up some good points. We have to be more cautious before we sign at the dotted line.
