Immigration Rights Activist Alleged ‘Mesh Mask Bandit’
June 22, 2013 8:00 PM

DALLAS ( CBSDFW.COM )- Hispanic leaders in North Texas are stunned that an accused serial bank robber was once one of their own. Luis Delagarza was arrested for the April robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank, but an FBI Task Force also identified him as the ‘Mesh Mask Bandit’ whose hit 19 banks since New Year’s Eve. The ‘Mesh Mask Bandit’ robbed most of his banks in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch-North Dallas area. But they are also just a few blocks away from Delagarza’s home in Farmers Branch, in a community where he made a name for himself pushing for immigration rights. His arrest has left fellow activists, such as Carlos Quintanilla, in shock.

It is clear that amnesty is not what the American people want. The Democrats blame the Republicans and the Republicans blame the Democrats but neither party is listening to the American people. We do not want amnesty for those who come here illegally and those who profit from them. We do want immigration laws enforced and we also want immigration laws that benefit the country and its people. We do not want a war zone on our Mexican border but the catch and release method we have been using for the last 30 years does not work. We do not want to give military contractors billions of dollars for “virtual fences” that virtually never work.
The fact is that the county and the average American does not benefit from amnesty or increasing the number of “guest workers” and most Americans are smart enough to see that. The average American is also smart enough to know that controlled and sensible immigration laws are a good thing but good laws with no enforcement are useless.
