Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh what a feeling!
When my soul
Went thru the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did ride
When I got there they did say
John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head
And all the angels say
Just before you passed away
These were the very last words
That you said:

Chorus:
Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have "em" cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get "em" out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junkman
And give my love to Rose

Repeat Chorus

Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
Give my knees to the needy
Don't pull that stuff on me
Hand me down my walking cane
It's a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ass goodbye

Repeat Chorus

Love that ,what song is that?

Have seen a few odd ones over the yrs. My Gpa was a mortician and step mom was telling things she had heard or seen in all the yrs of growing up in a funeral home lol. Mostly people being buried with certain things or IN certain things.
Have also seen numerous burials at sea and the ashes from a retired fighter pilot that were scattered via jet ,over the open ocean.
A former friend ,employer in Maine grew up on an apple orchard and the family cemetery mandates when someone is added they plant a new tree at the headstone and donate the fruit to local charity ,the plots are adjoining the orchard and picking fruit there has a very Stephen king kind of feel to it.lol
My Dad was a retired pipe fitter steamfitter and I had his ashes placed in a pc. of pipe with a bronze valve and a pipe wrench that I had made up for him by his local union shop,it is on shelf I made with a flag and several of his old guns.
My moms ashes are in a 50's Pepsi bottle lol on a shelf I made I draped some of her embroidery work over it and made a frame using her old crosswords for decoupage for the frame and back ground.
A former brother in Law will be buried in full regalia with his stetson and his six guns. My former father inlaw and good friend passed this yrs and was a retied independent truck driver and was buried in a small Ks. town and his funeral procession included about 20 motorcycles with flags, and 6 flat bed semi's with his casket on the back of one.
A friends Dad passed recently and his father was a third generation local rancher ,his funeral procession passed through town and out to the family plot ,they did it all on horse back with white horses in the front and black ones in the back ,it included wagons to haul all the guests and his casket . They had a lg. Barbeque and keg party all day for his service.Fitting lol is it all a video I can not include it out of privacy concerns though.
I have mine drawn up but don't feel like telling at the moment lol its not weird though . Rick

LOL Thanks sometimes having a bad memory and all this de ja vus is a good thing lol seriously must have just needed the rhythm ,found it AND have the tapes LOL
Remember these albums growing up ,thanks to my older brother "damn hippie"!
That guy always played the ski town circuit and went to the festivals I grew up going to, so he would pop up in the bars in town in the summer time. lol
And I wished my GPA would have been a carpenter ,because I grew up in a metal shop and had to teach myself carpentry.
And You are so right about NOT hearing that in Hutch and was a time just singin some of those tunes in Reno county, would have got you arrested.
I may still want to fold my hair up under my hat when I visit and I'm straight as an arrow lol
Thanks I will have a good time listening to those tunes now that I had a flash back Rick

my mother who all my life would say {kidding we thought} that she would be late for her own funeral, welp she actually did it! my sister who made the arrangements actually made her show up late. To my sister and I it was what we believed she would have wanted, because she was late for work everyday for over 15 years. i know she would have approved of it.

We better check and see if we are related LOL That would have made my mom real happy if that described her.
I know that if you would have ran a thought like that by my Gpa ,that is the very kind of stuff I grew up hearing about lol.
he would have just took it on as another day and made it perfectly late lol on his own .
I volunteer in Hospice and spend time with some folks who have a few very odd thoughts and talk to us about them because they are scared to tell their own family's
Also have set bedside with quite a few people before their passing .The bond I formed with several people made it very easy to just let them pass when their hour arrived. The grief for me is still minimal for my mom and Grand ma because of this.
Rick
