I just went to the Doña Ana County link cited in the article where the following popped up: "Due to technical difficulties, online property tax payments will not be available on November 1st as planned."

I guess I will go pay in person. I sort of hesitate to do so inasmuch as the last time I went to pay, I had to wait for about 10 minutes until two clerks at the windows finished a personal chat.

"The company that has been contracted to facilitate electronic payments will assess a processing fee of 2.49 percent of the total property tax bill for residents who opt for credit-card payment and a flat fee of $2.95 for e-check payments"

Typical of government, can't do anything to help taxpayers. They contracted "outside" help to handle payments by credit cards or an e-check. Wow, most clerks in any store could do this.(this is not to be taken as a slam against clerks)

And some people want our government to provide for us our health care.

One would think the County would appreciated instant payment and waive the surcharge.
