"They would prefer keeping the school the way it was before closing". I'm sure they would. A vererans home sounds great. Just keep the word "school" out of it. We have plenty of public schools available.

For the Veterans. That's what people keep saying, like it's going to be a VA facility like Hagerstown or Martinsburg with a school on the side.
Well, it CAN'T be a VA facility if it is a non-profit that only receives money from gambling. Just more smoke to get the school opened and once their foot is in the door they'll take all they can!
You want to keep it a school then make a continuing education school for retraining adults and let veterans attend for free.

As far as the students go I'd expect the shining examples of such a top notch and expensive private school education to have a little more under their belt than a nursing license. People are able to accomplish nursing degrees and much more with much much less than what these kids were given.

Well then let the Alumni purchase the school and re-open it.

Alloway may go the way of the school if he does not stop this nonsense. Sell it to private enterprise as fast as possible. That way it will have a positive economic impact. Not some make work endeavor that sucks our tax money into a pit.

Alloway is a mediocre lawyer and politician. The Peter Principle fully applies to Alloway. There is no basis for another school for "veterans' children" no matter the size. Of course, some of the alumni and former employees would like to see a stream of taxpayer's money flowing again to re-open. It cannot happen.
One of our illustrious U.S. Senators, Casey, has put forth proposed legislation that would spend billions, yes, billions, to bailout union pension funds. Can you say "Greece"?

Wow, does Franklin County show it's full of ignorant red-necks when it comes to this topic. The closure of the school is an unfortunate result of our economic times but to demean someone who has become a registered nurse or has found sucess in any career is just plain ignorant. Scotland School provided a positive environment for a lot of kids who may not have otherwise had a chance. Whether or not you think it was too expensive is a seperate issue.

Thank-you, I couldn't have said it better. Mr. Dainiels, I am proud that you became a registered nurse, helping others when they are in pain and having an open heart to those who are ill, Becoming a nurse is not an easy task and Mr. Hill you are a good example of a success story coming out of SSVC as well as Mr. Adams and all the others who have passed through those doors. You are giving back to society and a great example of good citizenship for PA and our country, THANK-YOU

As a former student of Scotland I can say that the school has provided a better education to its students then many of the public schools including the one in Franklin county. The school has brought much success to many of its students. The staff at the school have always worked hard to help and support their students whether the were currently attending or if they were on their way to college or even if they just need some help or peace of mind. The relationship between the staff and students is nothing like you would find in a public school today and the relationship between the students was even tighter. sure there were disagrements but in the end we are all family to one another, some of the closest people you would ever meet. you were never alone at Scotland there was always someone there with you willing to listen and help. Where can you find that now-a-days???? In almost nowhere. I thank everyone that ever worked at the school for doing everything you could for us and having hope and believing that we could whatever we wanted. You have changed the lives of many people. Thank you

Many people think this was a tax and spend school when all along it was a return for the people of Penna. and the Veterans of America to give their children a program of opportunity and prosperity. I wasn,t happy when I arrived and left to learn to be a responsible and young leader which is not taught on any level of education outside the home. It has also given me a great skill on raising my 5 wonderful children, leaders are not born, they are built from the fiber of Vets who gave and protect our wonderful country abroad. Thank You SSVC. and the VFW for your dedication to better our country. Last of the Gold Rings "1980
