It's sad to see that the bigots are STILL, even in the face of a SCOTUS decision and clear trends in attitudes, they're STILL throwing every wrench they can into the works to try and deny their fellow Americans equal treatment under the law. Really sad.

The really strange part is: not one of them has ever come up with a legally acceptable reason for marriage blocking
.
ever
.
It is simply much ado about nothing

That's because that would require THINKING, something they don't tend to do very often.

On a more serious note, I've noticed that most of the people of *my* generation (I'm 49) grew up with parents that simply stomped their foot and bellowed, "Because *I* said SO!! THAT'S WHY!!" and started doling out abusive punishments if we kids didn't comply immediately to whatever demand they currently didn't want to explain.

It's that same behaviour we see today among the hate-mongers that seem to have this extreme sense of entitlement to force their demands onto others without rhyme or reason or explanation. To them, simply declaring something to be what they want and then expecting it to be arbitrarily forced onto everyone else seems perfectly normal. Gee. I wonder where they learned that??

Turn the tables and ask how they would feel if other people were forcing *their* beliefs onto them without explanation or support, and they declare that other people don't have that right. To them, anytime they're not getting exactly what they want, it's because someone else is unjustly forcing their will upon them and that can never be allowed to happen. Yet they are completely blind to their own actions that do exactly the same thing to others.

It's a discussion in human psychology that is probably well above the heads of most of them, but that seems commonplace among those of us on the persecuted side. We're forced to see things from both sides, the hate-mongers are not.

You've got THAT right!
.
The most glaring example of that sort of lousy behavior is found in today's churches where its always a one-way deal
.
If a member of the congregation dares to talk back; he/she is 'ushered' out the door by none other than a.....church usher
.
So GOD has blessed us with the internet so we can force a two-way conversation; and it freaks the religious bigots out big time. They're not used to defending their privileged psychotic insanity
.
The internet phenomenon is similarly affecting the kind of dictatorial parenting you describe. The internet allows kids to punish bad parents by publicly freaking them out; usually before the parents stop yelling
