Geologists are convinced the Precambrian rocks in Eritrea are an extension of the Arabian-Nubian Shield , the birthplace of mining.

Compress crap down enough and you will eventually get a diamond.

Sad news is that the regime is so wacko that any investment will produce a loss even if you do find the resources touted in the article.

Better to get things of value from the bazaar.

Chances of oil onshore approx zero. Chances of gas @ Yemeni border about 5%, chances of piracy of offshore installations 100%.

May however eventually be of interests to the Saudis assuming that they have artisans there.
