Penny stocks are tricky. It is very easy to lose money with them compared to large cap stocks. But it's also possible to make some money if you know what you're doing. But this needs a lot of time and experience which many people may not have. Subscribing to a good penny stock newsletter usually helps.

I do not trade penny stocks exclusively, they are too risky for that, but I enjoy trading them and have made some of my biggest gains in penny stock trades.

I think you need experience trading the safer big board stocks before beginning to trade penny stocks. That way, you can learn the ropes without taking on so much risk.

In answer to the original question, I think you can make a living trading penny stocks but you would need a great deal of capital to do so. More than I would ever advise a beginner to put into the stock market.

My advice: Start with a small amount of money until you develop a successful trading strategy.

The following articles will help you learn:

I trade penny stocks for a living and have done so since 2004, so yes it is possible to do. Unfortunately for most people it isn't possible because they never learn what the penny stock market really is. Penny stocks are nothing like real stocks in that these stocks are attached to companies with no actually value and the price of the stock is merely based off of a perceived value create by unsophisticated and clueless market participants. If you would like to learn how a professional trader earns a living in penny stocks download this free 50 page ebook.

Sfaith is right you cant start trading penny stocks without prior knowledge or experience. There are also programs out there that can teach you the methods that have already been proven to work. These sites can be helpful however you must be careful in selecting one that is not a scam. The easiest way to spot a scam is if the information they provide on their site is informative and educational. There are other ways you can research scams as well. If you are looking for some educational material visit my site at for some free info.

Biggest Mistakes New Stock Traders Make
FAILURE TO INVEST IN PRACTICE As a tourist and beginner poker player, if you were to sit down next to Johnny Chan in Vegas, who won the 1987 and 1988 World Series of Poker main events, itís highly likely heíd clean you out in no time at all. Wall Street is the same as poker, if you win somebody else loses so get educated before getting cleaned out. TD Ameritradeís paperMoney is a groundbreaking paper trading application available as a downloadable platform. With paperMoney, you have access to a virtual margin account and $100,000 of ďplay money.Ē† As you do, your confidence will grow. Donít play poker with Johnny Chan until youíre ready, trust me on this one. If you want to build wealth on Wall Street, learn how to do it first, I can teach you hereÖhttps://mr141.infusionsof
DAY TRADING Last week I read a scary statistic that 95% of people who attempt to be a day trader lose money. Day trading isnít for everyone as it requires the ability to think fast while handling extreme levels of stress. I have nothing against day trading, in fact itís very popular, but if youíre a beginner STAY AWAY! If you want to become a day trader use the paperMoney account to practice and do NOT skimp on the amount of time you practice this. Iíve seen people flush money down the drain so fast day trading itíd make you sick. If itís a true dream of yours weíve got the biggest stock chat on Wall Street full of pros.
FAILURE TO CUT LOSSES QUICKLY This is my #1 rule Ö CUT LOSSES QUICKLY. To cut losses quickly you must enter the trade with a game plan. Entering a day trade and turning into a swing trade because it went against you can be extremely risky. Entering a day trade, turning it into a swing trade and then turning into a long term trade is even worse. You might be laughing right now but I see it happen all of the time. When I take a swing trade, defined by Investopedia as a 1 Ė 4 day hold, Iím looking for my profit during that time. Very rarely do I stretch it unless thereís a good reason. Failure to have discipline in this area will cause more problems than you can imagine. First, youíre trading without a plan Ė thatís dangerous and undisciplined. Second, while your money is tied up in a loser youíre missing out on winners. Let me give you an example. Last week I woke up to bad news on one of my stocks. Since I didnít expect this news and my stop loss was hit, it was time to move on. Itís painful losing money on trades but losing is part of the strategy I teach because nobody can escape it and be right 100% of the time, so you better have a plan on how to handle it, which I do and teach. That same stock opened lower the day after I sold it, so had I not taken the losses, even more losses and stress would have piled up. Even more important, since I wasnít distracted with the losing trade I was able to hit 3 winners to finish the week which recouped all of the losses and then some. Had I sat on the loser, Iíd have missed the winners and still be at a loss hoping the loser comes back. Bottom line is this. You donít have to agree with me here but you better have a plan because if you donít you wonít know what to do when the unexpected happens. I canít tell you how many,ďIím stuck in XYZĒ emails I get and each time I gently remind my client,ďYou are not stuck in anything, you have choices.Ē Be disciplined, youíll thank me later. By the way, I learned this the hard way because much of whatís written above, Iíve done myself in the past but not anymore.

If you want to invest in penny stocks, the safest way is by purchasing companies that are actually growing quarter over quarter and that have clean balance sheets(no major debt). I really like the oil sector because once a well is put online it's instant money everyday. KFG Resources(KFG.V) is my main holding at the moment and it follows this criteria. Also, share dilution is terrible, so you want the stock to be able to run off it's own cash flow.

Penny stocks can have alot of insider manipulation, which can be difficult to trade, unless you are specifically looking to trade those movements. Some traders specifically sign u to pump n dump newsletters, just to watch those stocks. The do move up and down in price, so you can make money with them, but its difficult.
I like trading Bitcoin, Altcoins, Forex, and CFDs. I use TA mostly for Bitcoin and FX. Altcoins are a little different. You have to be in alot of chat rooms in order to see what is moving up and down that day. There is a lot of manipulation going on.
