I was surprised to read these reviews. I had my deck treated by the Seal maxx guys in Atlanta about 4 years ago, and have been very pleased with the results.

Us, too.
Our deck is trashed. Now in addition to the other problems we've had several boards are rotting through. So much for the promises.
I'm south of indy, any way I could come look at your deck. I have been looking in to using seal smart but now see all the bad reviews.

I don't know if you're talking to me, but we're in Iowa. I'd be happy to send you pictures of our deck (which we have since put an oil based stain on)if you'd like.

Hey Tom Smogolski, Hanover Township Assessor, Bartlett, IL, and President of TS Smalley and Associates. How come you have no mention of your ownership of Sealmaxx Suburbanon your Linkdin profile? How come when I called you and mentioned Sealmaxx Suburban you stammered something about a wrong number and hung up on me? You can't say I've got the wrong Tom Smogolski because I recognize you from your pictures. You were at my house and you gave me the quote and took my final payment for the services your company provided. Typical politician.

We purchased a newly built home in 2007. A Representative from SealMaxx came to our home and demonstrated a product that they contended would preserve our deck with a written guarantee for 25 years. The guarantee was in writing. Within a few months after purchasing this service at a cost of $2,195.00, SealMaxx changed their name to Seal Smart but still is owned and operated out of the same location in Monett, Missouri and William R. Vermillion is the same President.
Within 5 years we noticed our deck starting to rot. We contacted Seal Smart and after numerous attempts, William R. Vermillion came out and stated that he could not find any rotten wood, with exception of a small railing which he replaced. The replaced railing does not match the rest of the railings. The following year, the floor on our deck was rotting so badly that one could not walk on part of the deck without having their foot go through the floor. We contacted Seal Smart by telephone in early June of 2013 advising of this problem with the rotting of the floor to our deck. On July 18th, 2013, we received a telephone call from Seal Smart advising that a Representative was coming out to inspect our deck. Five minutes later we received a call-back telling us no one would come out, we had to send them pictures. That same date, pictures were mailed to them.
When we had heard nothing from Seal Smart, on September 18, 2013, we sent a certified letter to Seal Smart requesting a refund of our money and gave them 10 days to respond. By September 28, 2013, we had no response from Seal Smart. Another letter was sent to Seal Smart on October 10th, 2013 giving them another 30 days to respond to our request for a refund. On October 28th, 2013, we received a response from a Laura Hazelwood misstating the facts involved and for the first time, stated our pictures did not show rotting or warping. On October 29th, 2013, we responded to Laura Hazelwood setting forth the actual facts involved. We have heard nothing from Seal Smart or William R. Vermillion since that date.
As a result of hearing nothing from Seal Smart, in late 2013, we filed a small claim in the 39th Judicial Circuit Court of Stone County, Missouri as Case No.: 13SN-SC00024. The first court date was scheduled for early 2014 and on January 7, 2014, Laura Hagelwood sent a letter to the court requesting a postponement. The court complied and the court date was rescheduled for April 24, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Because William R. Vermllion was the President of both SealMaxx and Seal Smart, the small claims court action was against William R. Vermillion. On April 24, 2014, Seal Smart had a Representative present at the court hearing, however, William R. Vermillion did not show up. This resulted in the court handing down a decision showing Defendant William R. Vermillion in default and issued a Default Judgment in the amount of $2,195.00 plus cost in our favor. On June 10th, 2014 we sent William R. Vermillion a certified letter, return receipt requested giving him 30 days to advise us when he would pay the judgment, since he did not appeal the court decision. It was signed for on June 11, 2014. We have not received a response from our June 10th, 2014 letter. It is now August 14, 2014.
Seal Smart is fleecing retired people with their product. The Better Business Bureau has had many complaints against this company and in fact, on August 29, 2013, the Better Business Bureau in Claremore, OK. stated on their website, "ON 08/29/2013 THIS COMPANY'S ACCREDITATION IN BBB WAS REVOLKED BY BBB'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS DUE TO UNRESOLVED COMPLAINT(S)." We have copies and proof of everything set forth in this complaint including the pictures of our deck. This company is a disgrace to be operating in the State of Missouri!
