With Obamacare in particular, the program is extremely complex and has not been successfully explained to most Americans. While a majority say they oppose Obamacare, it is most often because they don't understand it, and are thus vulnerable to lies about the program. As proof of this, when the benefits are clearly described to people one issue at a time, the majority favors them.
This is not about Obama's ego. This is about exploiting the public's lack of understanding of the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, by those who want to destroy Obama at any cost.
The Republicans had a plan that was easy to explain. And they didn't want to know about your sex life.

Now we can talk about trimming budgets, cutting spending own welfare or Obamacare or wars or education but none of that really matters because when you are done, health care will still be too expensive and we will still have too many old people supported by not enough workers.

Harrison saw the future not necessarily from the perspective of reducing overpopulation, but rather population reduction for the betterment of societal living conditions as a whole. Harrison's 1966 book "Make Room Make Room" inspired the movie "Soylent Green", which starred Charlton Heston & Edward G Robinson.

Single-payer = a monopoly (total control) of the health care industry by an entity that cannot run a railroad.

Ask yourself this: do you want the U.S. Government overseeing every single decision you make regarding your health?

Think about what that would entail.

Seniors are the only ones who should be getting subsidized health care. But there is still a cost problem in senior care and that's too many doctors and senior health care providers know how to exploit and bill medicare/Medicaid. Until they focus on the COSTs and not who is paying for it we will spend ourselves into the ground with third party/insurance based health care. INSURANCE should be for catastrophic events and not routine maintenance. Sniffles and boo boo sufferers need to learn basic first aid and how to take care of themselves with fitness, nutrition and otc remedies. Every ache and pain need not be checked by medical "professionals" practicing production line cya medicine.
I'd rather pay a flat fee for seniors than deal with the ACA which will not enhance the quality of life they ASSume it will do.
Seniors do get subsidized health care, throughout our lives we have paid a medicare tax which was woefully inadequate to cover our health care needs in old age, the taxpayers are picking up the rest. I am not a fan of socialized medicine like they have in many countries, the system stifles innovation in favor of cost but I do recognize the potential cost advantage of the single payer system. Once again the problem is not poor people who get it free when they do, it is not defensive medicine, it is not unfit people or people who use the doctor to much. These things make a difference but are a drop in the bucket. You spend most of you medical dollars towards the end of life on insanely expensive procedures, nobody has paid for it ahead of time and there are fewer people to pay for it in the future.

<quoted text>I'd trade in Obamacare for a single payer program. If you can't give me that, I'll stick with Obamacare. The worst scenario for our out-of-control previous health care system was to do nothing.
Obamacare is not the answer because it does not fix our problem, neither is our current system. Neither system addresses the cost problem. Both Obamacare and our current system rely on employer sponsored health care something we never should have had it did nothing but fuel the cost overruns. When you have thousands of plans out there trying to negotiate they are not going to get anywhere.

We need to attack cost by taking a non partisan look at how every modernized nation out there handles healthcare and developing a solution that best serves us. The one we have is the most expensive in the world. We are the richest nation in the world and I expect us the have to pay more because of it but not to the magnitude that we do. Adopt that and make the necessary compromises on taxes and benefits. I do not like socialized medicine because it goes against my political grain but I can not deny the benefits of that much bargaining power. When you say to the medical device people we are a single payer and one of yall are going to get the contract to provide 500,000 artificial knees this year greed comes to the rescue and you get one hell of a deal. That said socialized anything is always a race to the lowest common denominator and I can't deal with that. Our out of control cost fuels innovation at the expense of efficiencies.

Anyone who thinks Obamacare is a health care bill is a complete idiot, Obamacare is not a health care bill it is an insurance bill, one which does not fix the problems of insurance either. It needs to go in order to make room for a real solution. People who think it just needs to go back to the way it was before are also idiots.
Absolutely right it was an INSURANCE bill. And it doesn't necessarily lower COSTS. You have out of pocket including deductibles, copays and non covered procedures and visits. All this preventative care crap is half the reasons premiums will rise or have risen because INSURANCE was meant for catastrophic events & illnesses and NOT routine maintenance. And the time and money spent on so called preventative care will be offset by the financial strain placed on doctors and patients. It also requires or needs people under 30 and employers to pay for health care for this to work and that's not happening with the part-timing corporate America has been going to for over a decade at this point and the economy sucks so many won't find jobs that pay enough. Even $2000 year premiums(no patient expenses included either) could take away utility, rent, gas, food or car insurance money let alone a domestic emergency like a plumbing repair.

COSTs ARE THE problem, not lack of INSURANCE which has been exploited by the health care industry for decades. You wouldn't have 100 dollar aspirin if it weren't for insurance. Many patients dug their own health insurance grave by demanding if not expecting INSURANCE pay for routine maintenance, the sniffles and boo boos.

Obama Care simply substitutes big government for corporate America. It was already a pseudo socialist system because patients AND doctors demanded that INSURANCE be the voluntary/preferred method of payment with other options out there.

All of you democrats, you fans of a Big Nanny Government, keep saying is:'The GOP never offers a solution, all they do is obstruct and say no'.

The truth is the GOP could offer a dozen better solutions and not a single one would make it past the Senate, let alone past Obama.

In other words: ALL THE GOP CAN DO IS CONTINUE TO BLOCK AND SAY NO, AND IT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE DEMOCRATS WOULD DO IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED.

I remember the Republican health care "plan". Here are a few specifics I recall:

.It would actually increase the number of uninsured Americans.
.It would allow insurers to exclude people with pre-existing conditions.
.It would force sicker people to pay extremely high, for some unaffordable, premiums.

That's part of the underbelly of the Republican health care "plan", this joke they came up with in 2010. And you seriously wonder why we wouldn't accept it?

Medicare is a single-payer plan for seniors. It works extremely well. Just ask them.
And contrary to your paranoid musings, Medicare does not "oversee every single" health decision. Seniors may choose any private doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare.
The entire purpose of Medicare is to make health care more affordable for our elderly. A universal single-payer plan would be "Medicare" for everyone. The same freedom of choice would apply.

This sounds like the MSNBC version. One part you didn't mention was the vouchers which exceeded the cost of Obama's bargain basement plan.

Medicare works because doctors have had to squeeze their regular insured patients to make up for the money they lose on Medicare treatments.

Undoubtedly, Ted Cruz is a bright patriotic leader who realized that he and the GOP House can defeat the coward Obama if they play their cards right and are united with the big support of the American people. In fact, the GOP conservative Congressmen are stronger than the one lonely man Obama who fights against the interests of the American people which means that they can negotiate terms of extended loans to the scared Obama regime or else Obama regime will be closed out of business of ruining America for the American people on a daily basis step after step. GOP House conservatives are very powerful when they are united behind Speaker Boehner and House Leader Cantor in forcing Obama to stop his EPA war against coal energy and against the Keystone oil pipe from Canada in return for approving loans for the Obama regime. The spineless RINO losers led by McCain, McConnell should be defeated and ousted for going blind after Obama anti-American agenda of self destruction. The media will never stop blaming GOP House for the shutdown but the American people do not listen to the liberal media of crooks and America haters. It is time for the great Boehner to enjoy the power of the GOP ruled House to close-out the anti-American Obama regime with the big support of the American people against the hostile dictator Obama who despises the American people more than ever before.
