News is out today that a deal to avert the fiscal cliff is nigh. The New York Times is reporting that President Obama's latest offer, which is close to Speaker Boehner's dreams and desires, will permanently extend the Bush tax cuts on income below $400,000 and raise them above that bracket.

If grandma is making $400K, she don't need social security. Means testing, if you have income over the national average after retirement, you don't get social security.

Also eliminate SS taxes if you make more than the national average. Since they won't be able to collect, they also shouldn't have to pay. Let true SS dependants fund their own retirements entirely through their own SS deducions. Those that advanced beyond menial labor jobs and budgeted wisely shouldn't be any part of this welfare program.
