Brother Barack knows how these people feel. He went into some pretty big withdrawals himself when he stopped snorting coke.

The big problem facing us today is that people want the benefits of socialism (medicare, pensions, decent unemployment benefits etc.) but no one wants to pay. For years, the baby boomers have voted against any initiative to raise taxes to pay for these benefits, but now they need them, they are all crying because they dont exist. I suspect that this generation will not pay the taxes necessary either, so this problem will be a constant. You either believe that you will be able to look after yourself and your needs without help, then take steps to save for a rainy day, or you pay the premiums/taxes necessary to protect yourself. Otherwise, tough luck.

A young black man walked into the local welfare office, marched straight up to the counter and said, "Hi, I'm tired of handouts, I want a job."
The man behind the counter replied, "Your timing is amazing. We've just got a listing from a very wealthy man who wants a chauffeur/bodyguard for his nympho daughter. You'll have to drive around in a big white Mercedes, but the suits, shirts, and ties are provided. Because of the long hours of this job, meals will also be provided and you will also be required to escort the young lady on her overseas holidays. The salary package is $200,000 a year."
The black man said, "Ah c'mon, you're bullshitting me!"
The man behind the counter said, "Well, you started it!"

Social Security also makes up a larger share of the income of elderly African Americans than of elderly white people. This reflects, in part, the fact that African Americans are less likely to have retirement accounts or life insurance than whites. Elderly African Americans also have a harder time finding work and have less in earnings than do elderly whites. These factors make Social Security an even more important component of African AmericansÂ’ retirement security.
