Do we still have to pay to carry extra clothes that we can not put under our seats?

Will an overstuff Glad Garbage bag be considered carry on luggage that we could stuff in the overheads?

This is the problem (aka fraud in advertising):
"...round-trip tickets from Newark, N.J., to London for less than $90, although costs total $450 when taxes and fuel charges are included...."

Start flying charter! You would be doing a good service supporting local pilots aka the "small guy" trying to make a living. You don't have to worry about extra fee's & TSA security. Don't have to get undressed & taking off shoes. The best part about it is, no flight delays & travel time generally are cut in half. Fees are very comparable to the big airlines. Just a thought...

You can thank President Obama with his gloom and doom delivery of the state of the nation .... people are scared to spend money .... his now meager attempts at encouraging the people are falling on deaf ears.

For the same price as a person who brought no extra luggage, should I be able to check 10 bags? 100? Same principle... you just don't like where they drew the line.

And sure, you can bring a garbage bag on board, as long as it compresses into the 22x14x9 inch dimensions.

We paid less than $800 for two return flights to London last year. $800 each is not a sale.

International flights are not in the picture for us this year; we want to keep our travel monies in the USA. Check out your own neighborhoods. There are many many beautiful vacation spots in the the states so lets all spend the monies available here.

Sure the fares are cheap, but then the airlines treat passengers like a virus and wonder why no one wants to use them. Would love to travel to London but with passengers packed together with no leg room, all the extra charges to fly, plus four restrooms for 300 passengers ... not seeing the incentive to be trapped in an airplane for 8+ hours regardless of the cost.

Chicago Mom is right. $800 r/t London is NOT a sale. It's only a few years ago they were offering $99 r/t NY to London. And the airlines were actually making some money then. Obviously the bestfares guy is just trying to get sales on his not-so-good webpage.

those rate quotes are only from full fare sites, the prices at the discount sites are pretty much the same as a year ago, or higher actually

OK- but what do I do when I get there? Set up a tent? Lookat the dollar vs. Euro.

Why does "Ads by Google" (SUPPOSEDLY) a company with at least SOME ethical behavior include the BS ad "New Obama Stimulus Checks" which purports to have gotten a $12k check. That's ludicrous, and Google should be ashamed to carry such a complete BS ad.
I agree completely. Well said.

$800 r/t to London is definitely not a sale. My husband and I just paid $450 each for round trip to London on American.

the parts I liked best were Nancy Pelosi standing up about 50 times and the complete failure to address the banking situation with anything meaningful and concrete. I'm really concerned about healthcare and another bloated democratic budget... aren't you?

Chicago Mom needs to learn how to shop for airfare. I was in London a year ago -$525. Going to Paris/London in 2 weeks -$550. Was in Spain for the holidays -$750.
And Uh Oh, the Euro is looking mighty fine against the dollar right now ($1.26). Learn how to travel. If you need to stay in a $250 a night hotel, then maybe traveling isn't for you.
Carol, you probably wouldn't be any fun when you got there.
And Barbara, while there are great places to see here in the states (the Gulf Coast of Florida is awful nice), it's a global economy anyway these days. Your international flight keeps people at airports working, the flight crew (if you fly on a US carrier), and so forth.

can you drive to London for $800? It cost the airline $175 per person, each way, for gas. If the plane is full, and if jet fuel is $1 a gallon. now add in, crew (who have already taken 50% pay cuts and are American workers) aircraft, facilities, landing fees, etc.$800 is a steal, and a loss to the airline. You will see the US airline industry disappear because of what you perceive as a fair price. "sully" won't be flying anymore. he will be replaced by foreign workers too. Good luck on your travels. And remember...you get what you pay for.(a safe flight...) By the way...how much do you pay for 1 haircut/perm/color. and how many times a year do you do have it done? How long does it take? is your life at risk?
