I have a great great grandfather from Southern Mo. who fought, and was injured at the Stones River Battle. His brother was captured there and taken to Andersonville... a place he unfortunately never left.
I have been there, to the Stones River battlefield - seen its monuments, and have paid my respects to all those who fought for this great nation, no matter their side.
It's a wonderful place; one I hope will always remain standing for the rest of us to experience and remember.
