Well, sorta,there will be a building full of forms that can be filled out to make a donation to help "The Elephant Sanctuary" but unless you can write enough "0's" on that donation you'll never see an elephant.

Two buildings were purchased in downtown Hohenwald in 2007 that had
once been slated for demolition. Plans include
historical restoration and improvements
following “green” guidelines, and
this completed facility will eventually feature educational exhibit areas, a multi-media theatre and a gift shop.

Actually, these buildings were being used by local enterprises at the time and the city mayor and those who run the elephant sanctuary deemed these buildings the ones they wanted to use. So, then they were condemned and the families in these buildings making their living were forced to leave. Since at the time Hohenwald had about 8 stores open on Main Street, with somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 empty buildings they could have used, they chose to remove 2 profitable stores, thus reducing income for the city, county and those who ran these operations.
So in reality, these buildings were never really going to be torn down, an excuse to get their way, plus it probably helps when the city mayor owned about half the town anyway. Small town politics, they'll do ya every time.
No I am not against the elephants or the sanctuary, but I am against fraudulent means of obtaining items.

I love the trace. Hope to drive it soon. Cycle it should be the goal though.

My wife and I have traveled the Trace twice from Tupelo to Natchez. Then later tried from Tupelo to Nashville but got rather bored on that leg of it. Much more interesting going south but . . . .only my opinion. Good Luck.
