Ya THINK Gettysburg is EVEN interested..IN trying again?? I believe they had their open window WHEN it was being debated and voted upon. I think, the timing now...with the economy in a slump..PRICES ON EVERYTHING INCREASING..Unemployment numbers high, decent jobs offering part-time only...DON'T KNOW if a businessman is willing to attempt it..WHO KNOWS...there's always a challenge to be had, if ya don't try, you'll never know..WILL YA??

New casinos are being built across the US. Even Ohio has 4 new casinos currently getting ready to open or are under construction.
Normal new casino employees approx 1600. Dealers earn between $35K and $40K/year with a full benefit package. Supervisors earn from $40K and above. No casino experience is needed since the casinos train their employees.

I think the South Central Pa area would be very attractive to a casino investor.

I don't think anyone will want to come if they must go around the likes of you to arrive.

Besides, Gettysburg is a one-trick, two-bit town in the grand scheme of things.

There is no way any civilized person would wish to be stuck in Gettysburg when they could easily go to Revel, Borgata or Harrah's and gamble.

If they want an Eastern Seaboard city with anything and everything and which is several orders of magnitude more suitable for those with discerning tastes, they will go to Philadelphia or even better, DC, or even better, New York City.

Gettysburg hires 3rd-rate ad agencies to further put people to sleep regarding this pit stop of a caravansary. Even hardcore Civil War buffs consider this to be so. You might get WWII vets with no HS diploma and local degenerate gamblers at this casino. Nobody who matters.

Already has been two efforts to locate a casino in the Gettysburg area. Obviously someone with the means to make it happen feels differently. I would trust the judgement of those people over a bottom feeding Topix forum poster who jumps from forum to forum looking to start an argument. Have a wonderful evening.

It looks like the Hazzard County town square in Gettysburg, who are you kidding? I've seen better construction in police gun training simulations.
Anyone who would put a casino there is desperate and can't afford to be in the market anywhere decent, they probably got sent home by more Indian nations than Andrew Jackson too, so they ended up in 3rd rate and last choice Gettysburg.
In your opinion.

I believe that if the bill is passed to put the available casino licenses up for auction that a casino investor would find the South Central Pa area (which would include Gettysburg) a very profitable location for a casino.

Not one respectable company has expressed interest in Gettysburg because it is a two-bit hick town.

The support is here and the area is a profitable location. If there is a bidder for this area and the bid is successful it's a done deal. One can expect a certain amount of opposition to any casino proposal, the support is far more. I don't think it would deter an investor.

No casino worth a nickel will come to Gettysburg because it is a two-bit hick town full of losers.
its not the area for it. However, there is a few die hards that are unable to come up with a better solution. This would have been the easy way out for them, they can't see beyond the end of their noses

I wouldn't call it a failure. Both were considered viable proposals from the PGCB. The vote just didn't go Gettysburg's way. Those two strong proposals, plus the study that suggests the South Central Pa area to be a profitable area to locate a casino would look very attractive to an investor that has the capital to place a bid. PGCB is effectively removed from the equation if the investor has the winning bid.

I'm good Chick. To answer your question yes, I think there is a chance if the bill is successful in passing through the state Senate.
