There is one part of the Old Mine Road in New Jersey that should be closed, from Walpack bend to Thunder Mountain. No one lives there. Visitors trash/litter the road and a Site known as Jennings site one of the most scenic views of the river from the NJ shore. The National Parks Organic Act and The Wild Scenic Rivers Act if enforced and applied properly would protect this section of road from environment by auto. It can become a hike in area, carry in carry out.
When we think of the Delware River and its protections under the River Act we must also see the Old Mine Road which runs parallel to much of it. This small section of the road where no one lives would greatly enhance the park experience.
It would protect the site from fishing parties that leave trash and bring back some of the old road feeling. Save monies on road repairs and give the wildlife a break from noise and traffic.

The road should be open to the public! The Hull Family needs to get a grip.I live in the area, and know how beautiful the area is. I personaly am interested in the old mine road, and the history of the road including the VanCampen family the Indain wars, the miners & farmers that used the road since it was established. I am hoping to hike the the Old Mine Road from Jersey to NYS, and will be very pissed if I have to walk 2 miles out of the way to access the road. At an event at Peters Valley people were talking about taking the gates down themselves, and seemed to be looking foward to a confrontation with the owners. Come on Hull Family don't be so selfish open up the road!
