in Washington, D.C. 1919, white men, many in military uniforms, responded to the rumored arrest of a black man for rape with 4 days of mob violence, rioting and beatings of random black people on the street. When police refused to intervene, the black population fought back. Troops tried to restore order as the city closed saloons and theaters to discourage assemblies. A summer rainstorm had more of an effect. When the violence ended, 10 whites were dead, including 2 police officers, and 5 blacks. Some 150 people had been the victims of attacks.

The NAACP sent a telegram to President Wilson to point out:

Men in uniform have attacked negroes on the streets and pulled them from streetcars to beat them. National Association for the Advancement of Colored People calls upon you as President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the nation to make statement condemning mob violence and to enforce such military law as situation demands.

Excellent post. You would think that if someone didn't believe in a higher power, then that would be it. Instead, these people are waging a war against a higher power that they claim doesn't exist, and make it their lifelong mission to discredit anything that would prove that a higher power exist. If I don't believe in something, then I simply don't believe in it and I live my life. I wouldn't invest so much time and energy into trying to get others to share my views on the matter, because we're all entitled to our beliefs. But these so called atheists are hypocrites, condemning believers for spreading their belief, meanwhile they too are doing the same thing.

Maybe we are that way because we have been persecuted by religious nuts for thousands of yrs. Besides many of us like Savant, do not consider themselves at war with religion.

Actually, it was a superficial post. What evidence does he have the most atheists are mainly fighting against God? And even if they were, how would that prove they were practicing theists.
Were Tom Paine, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington practicing monarchist because they fought the British monarchy?
