And you expected more from a candidate, and now president, who campaigned on the notion that Americans aren't good enough? One listen to his standard stump speeches in both 2008 and 2012, and you got the theme. Americans can't work their way through the minefield of life without kindly ol' Uncle Sam's guiding hand.

Not smart enough to get an education, not industrious enough to get a job and build a career, not savvy enough to negotiate a mortgage, not responsible enough to take of their health-care needs, not compassionate enough see to everyone else's needs ... not good enough.

It's a mystery how that message managed to hookwink so many people. For those voters, maybe he was right.
