Typical NIMBY attitude from these communities. They are all for people getting out of their cars and reducing hydrocarbons but when it come to that through their cities it's a big 'NO'.

People in Menlo Park and Atherton need to get over themselves. Caltrain already runs through both, and adding a bullet train will modernize the entire system, as well as cut down on vehicle traffic through both jurisdictions.

People who live on the north end and the south end of these two cities need to travel through them, whether by train, bus, bicycle, or motor vehicle. Of these choices, the train is the cleanest and most cost effective.

Quit being so elitist and self-absorbed. It is most unbecoming!

When Caltrain was about to stop the weekday service for Atherton, they wanted to sue, even though practically no Atherton residents ride Caltrain.

Have you ever seen the reasons that Atherton residents call the police in the police blotter in local newspapers? "Residents reported a suspicious individual. Residents called of dog barking. Residents reported a parked car!" Atherton residents are so out of touch with reality like most of the politicians! Its no wonder everything is so f*cked up! And Charles Schwab receives hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in corporate welfare subsidies for his rice fields which are really his duck hunting fields!

Atherton residents would need to evolve a couple of centuries to become Nazis.

They've been isolated far too long, and if for no other reason, Caltrain needs to be upgraded to bring them into the 20th, then 21st century.

My alltime favorite Atherton police blot; "A woman called Atherton police to report a warm cup of coffee on her porch that wasn't hers. By the time
police arrived, she remembered that
it had been left there by a friend who was visiting earlier"

Let the bullet train pass through
her living room, I say!

No doubt. If there wasn't a lot of money to be earned by lawyers,(and a lot of Atherton residents with excess money ready to pay them) this entire situation would be a giant non-issue.

If there was a bullet train through Menlo Park and Atherton, I'd use it, wouldn't you?

Is this actually true, or are you just pulling our collective legs a little bit?

Heard rumors to this effect, but have never been able to confirm them.
