amazing that this thread dates back to 2008. i live in los angeles, ca. we have what our city calls "public transportation" metro rail. i decided to try it and bike the 1-2 miles to work from the train station. on day 2 of utilizing our metro system, i come back to the park & ride at the gold line station only to start my tundra and have it sound like a really nice lowrider. peek under the truck and see that the cats have been sawed off. such a shame that when you try to save money, be green and all that, it ends up costing 100 times more. if anyone wants to buy a los angeles metro pass, please let me know. haha

I had my truck cats stolen. They do it in about 10-20 seconds with a sawsall. Insurance will cover, but still need $500 deductable. I don't want to have it fixed only to have it happen again. So I am purchasing catlocks. Do a google search for catlock and you will find it.

Toyota sells the catlock2. You can order online for $129 each. You will need one for each cat.

Heavy duty construction to make thieves think twice about spending so much time under the car. They may get it, but not without raising suspicion from the noise.

Tests show that the cable can not be cut with sawsall even after a minute. Excellent deterrant.

I just had my catalytic converter sawed off my 98 4Runner at Stanford University parking structure 1 during broad daylight! I was too shocked to file a police report earlier tonight when I first realized what had happened, but I definitely will be doing it second thing tomorrow morning - first thing is to get it towed to the mechanic :(

I had my Catalytic converters stolen from right in front of my girlfriend's house in Brooklyn New York. Friday Feb 22 2014. I heard that there is platinum in the originals that's why they are stealing them. My mchanic came up with a metal plate to cover them up. I'm getting them done this weekend. This is some real crack head bull shit. I wish i had caught that guy under there.

It's so sad to see many people who have had to deal with theft. I don't understand why this is going on in the aftermarket pickup parts everywhere. I hope this can stop and get under control. http://www.boothilltruck.com

We had our catalytic converter stolen from our 2012 Toyota Tacoma here in Fresno ca. Today at sears outlet on shaw ave. We were only in the store about 10 minutes and when we left and turned on the truck it sounded like a tractor. My husband looked under the truck and seen that the catalytic converter was sawed off right in front of our noses.
The parking lot is dark and I called the manager and the manager said there is no cameras
So be ware of your Toyota please.
The only thing we ask is that one day they cut there hands off and something else if they have one so these people cannot do this to anyone again. Baca use it costs us hard working people a lot of money from our darn pockets.
So they can sell it for a bag of weed for a couple of dollars.

for all those comments--my just patented single 1/2 bar --stops all carbide saws, chain cutter, the zirconium battery grinder disc, and the acy torch---easily bend the bar to the contour, tack weld, wont catch on road hazards--15 dollars per ft for the bar, est 75 dollars to weld on,can be ground off as needed for service, can protect all the tailpipes--get this done from a good muffler shop, and only do it once-i challange the other mfrs to offer this protection, the others are just what the posts says-fyi i make the nocut bike locks, padlocks, brake pedal locks and more--a m/c lock that stops the acy torch,no problem, addaproducts in san jose ca
