Mountain View looks to the future

The last time Mountain View produced a general plan - in 1992 - Google didn't exist, the Navy still owned Hangar One and a new City Hall had just been built.

This is good news, and I have great confidence in the city of M. View. Why?
IN the 90's, when the internet boom was peaking, and the dollars were flowing, Mountain view saw the window of opportunity, and rebuilt it's entire downtown. Castro st. is one of the coolest hangouts in the valley. Meanwhile, cities like San Jose,(read Redevelopment agency) pissed away millions of dollars in bad development decisions,'slums of tomorrow' projects, and the backing of failed business ventures, like San Jose Live, the Pavillion, the UA theater, just to name a few. At the same time, San Jose's cool hangouts/happenings
were run into the ground by city meddling, like the downtown pedi-cab company, The Cactus club, the independent cafes on 1st. street; it pains me to list them.
And the final blow; At this time San Jose had the Golden opportunity to move the airport to the southern outskirts of town (coyote valley area), and
we could've had a 'Golden Gate Park' at the old site, one to rival San francisco. But no,
they built another high dollar airport terminal right next to the old one, doubling the noise pollution over willow glen. Now it's too late. Oh, did I mention that the light rail system MISSES the airport by a mere 1 mile? And the train station misses the airport by about 2 miles. Hard to believe a City could fumble the ball so many times.
San Jose could have been the EDEN of the valley, but instead it became home to high density
chipboard condos,a playground for Eastbay weekend methheads, bredding ground for 20 something year old trigger happy cops, and home to the couch in the front yard mindset.
Mountain view, kudos, and send a city government instruction manual to San Jose. Better include a spanish version too.
