Obama’s 2006 speech on the debt limit

“Mr. President, I rise today to talk about America’s debt problem. The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills.”

Here, Obama is sounding a bit Tea Partyish.

“It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government’s reckless fiscal policies. Over the past five years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is ‘‘trillion’’ with a ‘‘T.’’ That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers.”

Obama’s language is remarkably similar to charges made by the Mitt Romney campaign against Obama during the 2012 election, though Romney mostly focused on the debt held by China.(Japan was ignored.) When Obama took office in the midst of the Great Recession, the total national debt was $10.6 trillion; it is now $16.4 trillion.

Those "Tea Party" cit-heads are back in the news and in the worse ways. October 09, 2013 Americans are holding Republicans primarily responsible for the partial government shutdown as public esteem sinks for those "Tea Party" players in the impasse, according to a new poll.

I don't care about polls, I care about wasteful government spending, intrusive regulations and higher taxes. The Democrats aren't interested in cutting our federal budget, the Tea Party Republicans are. When you're in massive, world record debt and maxed out your credit - quit spending. We've got to get a grip on government growth before it suffocates us.

One way is to keep printing money, so the dollar is worth less. That's a flat tax on everyone, especially the poor. The rich have ways to hedge against inflation; the rest of us don't.

This shutdown is not affecting the economy. Giving in to what the Dems want is very much going to worsen the economy. This shutdown affects some federal workers but the government is making it worse so "The People suffer outcry. They want to be needed so they can take over and grow.

Nobody talks about the next generation having to pay back all the debt the Dumbellcrats want to keep piling on, or is it their intention to cause economic disaster? Ironically, don't the Dumbellcrats understand they will suffer the most when inflation becomes rampant? But they aren't very smart to begin with and then being led by Obozo doesn't help.
Most of Obama's low-info voters don't understand the difference between the national debt and the deficit so they buy into the left's talking point about Obama having made progress on this year's deficit despite the fact that he has added 6 TRILLION to the national debt-- the real threat to our republic.

Good point, I love the shutdown; so peaceful.

The President uses income to pay debts. The Congress determines borrowing, nondiscretionary and discretionary funding; we need a budget not a continuing resolution. We want to balance federal spending and income, not increase debt. We want less intrusive regulation, not more. We want to stop higher taxes.

We did the Sequester; it was managed terribly. Let's really cut government down to size.

Global Warming news: Ranchers in South Dakota fear they may lose everything after a freak storm dumped up four feet of snow in parts of the state last week, killing as many as 100,000 cattle.

Matt Kammerer, a 45-year-old rancher whose family has operated in South Dakota’s Meade County since 1882, told FoxNews.com that he lost 60 cattle in the storm, or one-third of his entire herd.

President Obama does have the power re-open the government, Congress does too, President Obama has the power in the 14th amendment to control the debt ceiling, Congress does.

Congress is threatening America and will be branded a terrorist organization, and you don’t negotiate with terrorists.

They will all [GOP, Republican and Tea Party] ARRESTED AND DEPORTED TO Cuba.
