Catalytic converter thefts spreading

Some motorists in Belmont and Millbrae have been surprised lately when starting up their Toyota trucks or sport utility vehicles.

SOMEONE CUT OFF AND STOLE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON MY 1995 TOYOTA 4 RUNNER ON 11/2/07. IT WAS PARKED IN FROT PARKING LOT AT MY WORK. ON MY LUNCH HOUR I STARTED THE CAR, AND IT MAID VERY LOUD NOISE. I DROVE TO NEAREST MECHANIC SHOP. MICHANIC CHECKED AND TOLD ME THAT SOMEONE STOLED CATALYTIC CONVERTER OF MY 4 RUNNER. AND METAL DUST WAS FOUND AT PARKING LOT ON TWO ENDS THE SAME POSOITION IT WAS CUTT OFF.

My catalytic converter was stolen from my 93 4 runner last night in front of my house in Pomona California. The thieves also punctured one of my tires. I was so busy trying to get a new tire, that it took all day to figure out that the CC had even been stolen. My neighbor also got his CC stolen from his 95 4 runner. I haven't seen anyone in Pomona posting so perhaps the theives are new to Pomona.

regarding the catalytic converter, mine was stolen from my Toyota SUV lastnight Monday 01/14/07. I had no idea what was wrong with it.. I started my car after I got off work and it sounded like a bomb exploded.It was awful. I realized later after talking to a Toyota auto repair , that they had stolen my catalytic converter. completed sawed it out from one pipe to other.Really sad that this happened for this puts alot of stress on me and my family. I put a police report but I have not heard nothing. I so want to catch this thiefs for i would not want this to happened to any body else.

Catalytic Conveter stolen in North Hollywood, CA 1/17/08. Used rachet to unscrew bolts on 95 Toyota Pickup. Had alarm but didn't arm it that evening.

I had my Cat stolen for the SECOND time here in Paramount, CA. In regards to trying to protect your vehicle so it does not happend again I will make or fabricate a steel mesh frame to frame under the cat area. I will braze the bolts that hold on the mesh plate. Third times the charm

There were two employees hit in the office parking lot on Monday, broad daylight in Carlsbad. Both vehicles were Toyota pickups.

Apparently the trend has spread to the mid-Atlantic states... my '06 Tundra lost her cat converter last Friday in Quinton, VA...fairly rural area 20 miles east of Richmond. I was stunned and shocked. $500 deductible for us...$1300 for our insurance company.

someone stole my catalytic converter yesterday in the pkg lot of my apt complex in So.CA. I hear the peeps that are steeling them are the kind that our government allows to live in OUR country. They steal from us, they blow us up and it's like.. they get a slap on the hand like spoiled children. and guess what folks!!! WHO PAYS FOR IT!!!.. not them, cause they get all the money, whether its stolen, government funded OMG!!! I am soooo angry!!! they r like termits, not enough orange oil to go around. DO I FEEL BETTER!!!???? NO!!!!!!!!!!

Last night parked and went in store - was there about 15 to 20 minutes and then an announcement said "The owner of a 2 door pickup, please come to the front of the store." That's me, did I leave my lights on? NO, a witness saw someone taking the catalytic converter off my truck! The witness was kind enough to stick around for the police report and got their license plate number. Gave it to my insurance company too since they are a vested party and will take a loss. They have $$ to pay investigators and can get access to the license registration of the lowlifes who did it. Even though we have plenty of illegal immigrants and gang activity in Phoenix, guess what, the thief was a well fed white guy with a button up polo type shirt (the witness described it as a shirt your wife or girlfriend would make you wear).

Got mine stolen on Friday, 04/18/08. The Toyota SUV 4Runner was parked @ Synnyvale Caltrain station.
