Alright folks - I'm un-posting this thread in all forums but the Topix main forum, so that's where it will live now.

Hey everyone -
We've added a Topix "T" icon next to our moderators' usernames so that you can distinguish between actual Topix staff and regular users. If you mouseover the T, it reads "Topix Moderator."
Hope that helps!

All I know is that the several posts that I reported as abuse are gone. They were some of the nastiest I've ever read.
Yeah, I have seen a lot more action nowadays as to the past for reporting abusive posters!

What I also find amusing is that no matter how many times Topix removes threads that don't belong on certain threads they don't deal with the users who are creating them.
So thanks for pulling the Obama thread from the Tony Stewart forum, but the main problem causer in that thread has created another political thread to go in its place. Hopefully it'll get removed quickly. And she'll continue to do so until someone deals with her.
I agree as w have this on poster on our forums that his posts are deleted daily, but he still makes nasty slanderous threads all the time. He has been reported a lot, but topix has not stopped him from posting. It is just daily nonsense and lies from him that we have to put up with as he never debates the topic. The moderators should really look into stopping him once and for good.

I am confused about something. 1) If an editor copy and pastes a portion of a news story or even all of it and/or then links back to the source, for example, the Associated Press, isn't that a copyright infringment and if so, who pays the cash? My understanding was only AP subscribers who PAY for the news wire are permitted to reproduce their news. The same copyright laws extend to everyone and everything else as well. If someone were to copy and paste my original post as their own is that a violation of my copyright work? Sure it is. So who is liable?

We know the courts allow servers and sites to NOT be liable for copyright infringments ONLY when they promptly comply with the person alleging the violation. Maybe congress can change the law but until then it appears that Topix would not be liable providing they rectify in good faith the infringement. Sooooooo, if an editor violates a copyright isn't the editor, tho not paid, but isn't such editor acting as an "agent" for Topix? These appear to be serious questions concerning literary works and who would be liable for fines, damages, etc.. Could this liability be imputed upon Topix for neglect or illegal activities of IT'S editors? Topix makes money off of this website and editors under the guise of "news" are like free drones but in any event, they act for the principal as an agent. In any scaenario, attorney fees alone could run into the millions considering the sheer volumn of posts on here.

Daily Horoscope for December 25

Virgo

So much love and effort. You want the day to be a big success, and it's going to be that way. You'll be very popular if you can bring some spontaneity to the day, such as springing an exciting surprise on everyone or swapping a tired old tradition for something much more interesting. You might also have an unexpected visitor at some point.
