Burlingame construction forces store closures, project slightly behind schedule
Construction work to revitalize downtown Burlingame is slightly behind schedule and the project has forced at least one store to temporarily close.

The project broke ground in May 2013 and has been pushed back to the end of August 2014.
Why is it taking so long - even before the push back to August?

while i like the look of the new street, its not like the old one was so bad. It's seems like a lot of work that will result is less parking and not much more utility. sure the sidewalks were a little narrow, but the new width isn't really enabling anything new. I wonder what the business owners think of the end result and if its helping or hurting their sales.
As to why its taking so long - i have no idea. seems like they're doing a lot of infrastructure work in addition to redoing the sidewalks etc. But still, I agree, it seems to be taking forever.
