Right, another example how a democratic officials like to waiste citizens money.
What a waiste of time.
Start using Your brains once in a while...
like rent board workers that make close to $100.000 each and have nothing to do accept surf net and send insulting goverment links to groups on line ...
This is crazy.

Have to disagree with the last/first comment. These parks create community- plain and simple. They should be maintained, if not by the city, then by the people that use these parks. It's easier for the city to alleviate hazards if they fix the park directly. If you have a problem with skateboarding, be happy that there are skate parks in your community where skateboarders can go- if you build it (or repair it) they will come.

When You direct goverment to do things thats what happens, park is build and in 5 years needs to be rebuild, goverment only knows how to waste money.
There are companies that could build park like this with plastics not dangerous concrete or concrete with some layer of plastic to make falls less painfull..
but I know thinking for goverment, especially Berkeley City Goverment to hard to do.....
they only know how to waste ..........money or other things

If you don't skate you don't relate. Plastic parks that hurt less? You have no idea what you're talking about. That's the average person's remark. Concrete is the best to skate on. If you have a crappy park no one skates it and it's a waste of time and money. Only few do it for sport? Are you serious? Maybe you only know about your buddies that ride around longboards. I grew up in an age where there were no skateparks. I'll skate a park or skate the streets. Skateboarders are like cockroaches. We evolve and adapt. You don't fix the park than we'll end up skating something else. We build our own things to skate and the city deems them unsafe. We get a park and outsiders like to control us. You skate anywhere you get kicked out. Who cares? People only like skateboarders in controlled environments. Too bad. I pay my taxes as a skateboarder and continually see things happen that I don't approve. I deal with it. The park is now fixed and they did a good job. We'll see how long it lasts.
