What purpose does this article serve other than to discourage people from taking on an incredibly enjoyable sport. Here's the skinny, you don't need all that crap. Assuming you already know how to shoot a gun safely, all you need to hunt deer is a license, a safe & suitable gun, some ammo and some Blaze Orange clothing in some states (often all that is required a $5 road construction workers vest). Deer are color blind so you don't need camo anything. It helps but it's not necessary. Then, do your homework 9 months to a year in advance. Start knocking on farmers doors. Do some scouting. Contrary to popular belief, hunting is not a lazy man's sport. You would be suprised how many hunting opportunities are within easy driving distance if your willing to do the footwork to find it.

I agree. You can use garage sales and craigslist also to purchase hunting equipment at a very reasonable price!
