This is scary stuff. The nanny attitude, not the snowmobiling. Life is short no matter what we do. The idea that our focus should be solely on staying alive as long as possible seems incredibly boring and wasteful.
Life is meant to be lived and each individual has the most basic right to find their own path. I guarantee, you will never find an astronaut or mountain climber promoting laws that dictate to others how to live their lives.
It is only the fearful and timid, who in an effort to rationalize their fear, find it necessary to impose their life outlook on others. I choose to find spice in life by living more toward the edge than another may be comfortable with.
I would never dream of insisting everyone fly their own homebuilt airplane, so please don't insist I put my helmet on before I get out of bed in the morning just because you do.

This was a guy, in the words of Department of Natural Resources Warden David Walz, who "had everything going for him." A guy, who, from all indications, lived a good and responsible life.

based on interviews he did with two other snowmobilers who were with Romlein that night, speed and alcohol were probably contributing factors in the accident.

Be cautious in how you judge something based on a media report. The story in your paper doesnt relay all the facts and makes some assumptions that are not proven. I hope that folks will see the word "probably" in the article and understand what it means. The media wouldnt write the story if the words speed and alcohol wernt involved.
