Completely lost here is the fact that the law requires notice to be provided Post Conviction, prior to sentencing. Whether or not Mr. Arnold told Diamond three times prior to trial or three thousand times, he did not do it correctly under the law.

As a result, the judge did the right thing. Mr. Arnold failed to do it correctly (which, is his obligation) and consequently the judge did what he did.

Incidentally, I do believe that the FOP are doing the right thing. People that shoot at police deserve bad things to happen to them. 20 years? That might be a little harsh, but it is the right idea.

20 years is "a little harsh"? You're kidding right? Violent criminals who have proven they have the capacity to kill should be put away FOREVER! NO parole, NO time off for good behavior, NO television, Nothing but a cell with 2 or three hours a week of time in the yard for excersise.
Why would you want violent felons on the street? They are the ones who kill people.

And is overwhelmingly straight males that molest children...

You ask what that means? It means that all straight men should be monitored closely to see if they are actually going to do something.

If the average citizen (or criminal) is to follow and obey the law, so too must the District Attorney.

That being said, twenty years is a very long time and completely ignores a variety of circumstances. I believe that if you look at the people that kill people, you might be surprised to learn that the vast majority of them have not committed a violent crime before the murder!
