Target practice at 9:00pm?

Besides the obvious fact that this man was hit by a bullet, I am going to guess that maybe these people were not the most careful shooters in the world.

These people should have never been target practicing that late at night OR that close to anyone's home! If you want to target practice, go out in the Country!!!

uhhh... Coopersville is out in the country! Also I think it gets dark closer to 9:30. Also the regulations in my area are 500ft from a house and 300 ft from a road. I think this is common. These people just weren't being careful.

I think it is just not being sure of what they were doing. This happened at my house in coopersville a couple of years ago also. Thank God my family was not hurt, but the bullet went through my girls bedroom window and into the wall about 3 feet above the bed. It could have been extremely bad if they were walking in their room.

Charge them with attempted murder.

If this was done with a rifle or a hand gun. I do believe that it is still not legal except at a shooting range.

Target practicing that late at night is crazy. I'm sure they will be charged with some sort of a crime.

I know you are probably a liberal idiot that lives in Heritage Hill and would like to abolish all use of guns!!! Furthermore, you don't like to realize that the Constitution allows Americans, unlike your communist self, to arm ourselves.

In addition, you probably are a pro bono lawyer that likes to protect illegal aliens that shoot and kill Americans on a daily basis. This was not attempted murder, communist. Go F yourself with a Chinese flag!!!

The only thing I'm aware of in MI law that limits where you can shoot is this:
" (4) A person shall not hunt or discharge a firearm within 150 yards of an occupied building, dwelling, house, residence, or
cabin, or any barn or other building used in connection with a farm operation, without obtaining the written permission of the
owner, renter, or occupant of the property.
History: Add. 1995, Act 57, Imd. Eff. May 24, 1995.
Popular name: Act 451
"
So, they're were probably OK until they actually endangered somebody. I can't imagine Coopersville having a more restrictive ordinance on the books, but I haven't ever lived there.
I think what you were getting at with the first sentence is that shotguns are treated differently than handguns and rifles. They're not, anywhere that I'm aware of, aside from hunting regulations.

I'm supprised the stench from the poopersville dump didn't just melt the bullet as it travled though the air.

It is also amazing it made it though the wall of a zillion seagulls flying around that area.

Doesn't anyone take hunter safety? Safety course for CCW? Anything? As stated by "Observer" - "Be sure of your backstop." Shooting at night better be at the varmint raidin the hen house. Target practice is done during daylight hours, with a proper backstop, preferrably "DIRT" with a target in front of it. Please...no more "go out in the country & do that" comments. I live in the country & prefer people not tromp onto my property to shoot like idiots thank you.
