I was deeply disturbed by what I saw this morning. Literally hundreds of empty energy-gel packets all over town. While crossing the St. Johns bridge I counted over 40 in less than one mile (and one half-empty packet of shotblocks - you could at least not waste them like that). When I got to the end of the bridge the scene was really dismal - dozens and dozens of them scattered everywhere in the streets.
Come on people, you are all grownups. Your mother/father/maid/servant/hel per monkey is not here to clean up after you. Please have some civic pride and don't leave your trash all over the place. Just because you are a 'hardcore' runner does not give you the right to litter - it is still a ticketable offense even if you are participating in an organized event. You know you are going to have the empty packets to deal with so plan ahead just a little bit and be prepared to carry them with you to a trash can - its not like they weigh very much and they are certainly not biodegradable like a banana peel.
I'm sure there are some of you (though not many from the looks of it) who are responsible and don't just throw your trash on the ground. Please help to educate your fellow citizens.
