Three Collapse, Die at Detroit Marathon

Oct 18, 2009 Full story: 11
The race Marathon was named for the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek messenger, who ran from Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. It is said that once he told the assembly, "We have won," he collapsed and died. Recreational marathons typically do not have that sort of result, but today in the Detroit marathon, there were three deaths. Full Story

The cause of death is under investigation for two of the victims in the marathon. The last death at the Detroit event was in 1994 when a 42-year-old man died of a heart attack after running more than 20 miles (32 kilometers). The average rate of death in marathons is 1 in 50,000- there were 19,000 runners in the Detroit marathon.

I just got here. I see one of the usual dimwits managed to blame Obama.

Three people died so he could get his cheap shot in. Knowing Eight-ball, I bet it made his day.
