Last week we chartered a 6 hour fishing trip with Start me Up Fishing Charter for $186.00 at the wharf in Lahaina. Not until we were out at sea were we told we would not be allowed to keep the fish we caught including a 50 pound Mahi Mahi. No food or drink was available to us & we were not informed prior to leaving so we would have provided our own. Have others had this or similar experiences? Alice Briggs & Cecil Davis Riddle, Oregon

I would never go on a charter that didn't let you keep your fish. Apparently, there is only one Maui charter that does let you keep your fish ... sorry you learned that the hard way. Try telling a PNW fisherman that he doesn't get to keep his catch on a charter! You might get punched in the nose! They should have given you some of it though. Most give you part of the catch to feed the people in your group one meal.
