The police force there needs to consult with a cognitive psychologist or neurologist. This type of retrograde amnesia or "soap opera" amnesia is so rare as to not really even exist. The only people that have such severe retrograde amnesia also have dehabilitating anterograde amnesia (the inability to form new memories a la the movie Memento or that fish from Finding Nemo). For him to claim seven years of amnesia with no current brain damage or cognitive impairment is basically biologically impossible.

Oh yeah, and that internet photo also blows the entire case wide open. Obvious obvious fraud.

The only thing I don't understand why the guy returned to England and told this tall tale. It sounds like he, his wife, and kids had already made a clean getaway to Panama.

Something stinks here...

The only reason I can think for his resurfacing is in the event that someone recognized him or it slipped out that he was still alive he would have had to answer to the authorities. Maybe he thought by coming forward with his amnesia story on his own would cover his tracks better. Didn't sound like he thought it out very well though.
