What kind of genius tubes in May? Why take the additional risk of cold, fast water, and hidden snags? Who in the world would launch at 6 PM? Why are there so many mouth breathers on the Ridge?

How far downstream did the rest of the family "drift" without noticing one of their members wasn't with them, or did they?

Good job John.

How many rescues is that now from Scotty's? Some organization should give the owner some kind of citizen's award.(hint)

Yes, Scotty is a true river hero, but you wonder if it wouldn't improve the gene pool to just let these idiots drift. Being on the water on the full moon is indeed wonderful, but in a boat (kayak, canoe, powerboat), not a freakin' tube.

This has to be a family blondes, right? It's freaking cold water, and night tubing is really dangerous. Good god what goes through people's heads? Hope BCSO and Scotty charged them for the cost of the rescue.

Next time they should tie a big heavy rope around their necks and then to the beer chest to keep everyone together in case someone hits a snag or gets sucked under in a whirlpool.

If your going to plant ideas such as night tubing you need to also explain the hazzards that you will encounter when night tubing. If you go on a night run be sure to have drifted the same route the day before so you know what the river is like.Snags can develop at any moment and the course of the river can change at a moments notice. This man that saved this girl was just doing what any of us would do.He just heard a scream and she climbed in the boat.Have fun NIGHT TUBING EVERYONE!

I grew up in the area of the river. The Scott family has been there forever! I shudder to think about what would happen to some of these idiots if it wasn't for people like John who has a heart of gold and a true love of his river.

Like you have never have had anyone in your party need to be rescued on a foggy winter's day?

I've been down the river over a 100 times and night tubing in May is just nuts. The fact that the snags move with the winter makes is dangerous and unless you have done a daylight run to get prior knowledge you are a fool. Plus the water temperature is cold enough to cause hypothermia without the warmth of the Sun just makes it foolish.

The simple fact they lost someone and it took four hours to report them tells me they were all idiots.

You bet, the Ord Bend fiasco where we expected the fog to clear and it didn't. That's why I always go in a group.
