Did you ever think he may not have a record???

He is NOT getting any special treatment, I've seen more in the system to complain about then that..

I have a bright idea. Why doesn't everyone get a life and get the facts before you start making accusations, and charging everyone with child endangerment.
There was a huge channel marker involved in this whole thing. Hum? Isn't it intersting that it wasn't even on the map, until July 12.... days after the accident. Oh maybe because it wasn't flashing. Anyone would run into an object they couldn't see. Alcohol or no alcohol, no one, not even the children could see the channel marker.
Again get the facts before you judge. Maybe the charges should be against who ever set the faulty channel marker!

Any way you look at this it's too sad a story for all - including Mr. Nixon. Lives are forever destroyed and families ripped apart. Prayers and peace for all.
You are very correct indeed. Lives have been destroyed. He and his family need to be remembered in our prayers. To those of you who want to crucify him, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Nothing that the court system could do to him would be worse than what he is already doing to himself. He has dedicated his last 19 years to helping and protecting the citizens of Richmond. He is not a bad person who repeatedly has endangered others. He made a serious lapse in judgement. He and his family need our prayers not our judgement. 55<3

None of us are immune to tragedy, nor are we in a position to Judge. It was an accident, a horrible accident that this man will have to live with for the rest of his life. His own brother's fiance was killed, his son hurt really, really bad. He made a career of saving lives. He's not a drunken, crazed, speed junkie. Have you ever been on a boat at night on the James River? Those channel markers are fierce and unforgiving. Not one of you who posted the "hang 'em high" comments are in a position to Judge. Only God can do that. My heart breaks for all of those personally involved. Has the actual bac been released? Who hasn't been on the river for the day and not had a few beers. I'm seriously thinking when Steve woke up that morning, it was NEVER his intent to hurt, kill his family....He's already been sentenced for life with his conscience. This is a law biding, hard working husband, brother, son and father, who I am sure feels worse than any one of you could ever know.
It could have been any of us. Thankyou for your commment. At least someone has a heart!

That may be the most idiotic statement I have ever heard. Let me translate what you just wrote:
"This is America and everybody has rights, unless I don't like what they are doing with thier rights". You can;t ;pick and choose which parts of the Constitution we follow. I bet you go ape when someone tries to restrict 2nd Ammendment rights, don't you?
Yeah I go APE. Right now I am eating a banana while swinging from my chandelier.

Sorry Reality but I will not support a mosque being built on ground zero because it is not RIGHT. Terrorists destroyed the buildings and murdered innocent American citiizens on that day.

I am from NY. My father and 10 out of 12 uncles were NYPD. My cousin Tommy is a NYC fireman who was there working trying to save people. I have many other relatives who helplessly watched some of the victims jump out of the buildings. My other cousin John, carried the body of Father Judge (NYC Fire Dept. Chaplain) out of the tower to a Catholic Church (Check out the cover of the NY Post on 9/12-he is the only one in a suit.)

They can build their mosque anywhere else they want but not there. That is hallowed ground.

Yes Pray for all. If you check the facts of death and serious injury due to drunk driving in vehicles, you find stories just as horrific, some even more so. Driving and drinking do not mix, and NO ONE is above the law. To say Mr. Nixon has been punished enough makes a mockery of our judicial system. It HAS to play out, and why have laws if we can just assume someone has been "punished enough" by leaving death and serious injury in their wake. Again YES pray for all and that includes the good people in our judicial system that will have to make some tough decisions. Responsible people do NOT allow their friends to drive drunk! Perhaps there is blame on all sides. However, NONE of us has the right to decide Mr. Nixon's fate. That is now in the hands of the law as it should be.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!! But be careful because many indignant firemen will now hunt you down because no one is allowed to say anything bad about them. Unfortunately they suffer from the MARTYR SYNDROME! They want everyone to love them and worship them. They feel they are so good that they are above the LAW!! Be strong my friend! I will stand by you because I agree with you!!

Again, people should not pass judgement on others or make accusations if you don't have all the facts!!

Let me get this straight...people think that because Mr. Nixon is a firefighter, he should stay out of jail and keep his job. My thought is, as a firefighter--he should know the consequences of driving drunk and the injuries/deaths in the results of his actions. Two of the children on the boat were Mr. Nixon's and the other two children were his step children, how do you think the father felt when he got a call saying "his children have been involved in a boating accident and he needs to get to the hospital." I don't think Mr. Nixon should shoulder all the blame for this accident, his wife should face charges as well as the mother to two of the children involved. As for the other adults in the boat they made the decision to get on and ride with a drunk driver, the 4 innocent chidren had no choice and had to trust the adults to make a responsible choice for them. These poor children will remember this for the rest of their lives...lets hope that they are all receiving some type of counseling. I pray that the judical system will see fit for the punishment. I do pray for Miss Brady's family as they to have to live with the results of Mr. Nixon's actions.
