I don't know why any family would want a detailed account of the tragic way this man died in his obituary - the last testament of a man's entire life.
His wife will grow old and his children will grow up and every time they look at that obituary they will have to remember that terrible day.

I thought the obit was written by the Nat'l Enquirer! Very sad.

The family writes the obituary, sometimes with a little help from the funeral home. I'm imagining the family didn't know what they were doing because of their grief.
Nothing is said about the man's life, really. All the focus is on how he died.
I hope somebody gets them to rewrite it, or writes it for them.

I know this family and was shocked to hear about this tragic news. I am praying for Jennifer and the kids and that EVERYONE that spends any time on the water wear a life vest. You never know in the blink of a moment what can happen. Even the best of swimmers arent safe in the depths of a lake. Unlike a pool, you cant see the botttom and pull someone to saftey as easily. Prayers to all the family . My deepest sympothy to you all !!

I wrote his obituary myself to stop people from "wondering what happened". I tell my kids that their father died with a smile on his face. It doesn't take an obituary to relive that day, but thank you for your concern. Maybe I should've contacted you for approval first...my apologies... I didn't mean to offend anyone.

The fact that you took time out of your day to write some smart ass comment like this one is very sad.
