There are 74 comments on the www.pressrepublican.com story from Jul 20, 2008, titled Fifteen-year-old boy killed in boating accident. In it, www.pressrepublican.com reports that:

A 15-year-old boy from Connecticut died after he fell from a boat Saturday evening.

Town of Ticonderoga Police reported Daniel K. Nadeau of Mansfield, Conn. was riding in the bow of a 20-foot fishing boat driven by Christopher A. Novack, 45, also of Mansfield, offshore a rural part of the Town of Crown Point at about 6 p.m. The boat encountered choppy water, which caused Nadeau to fall overboard and subsequently be hit on the head by the propeller.

Nadeau was pulled back aboard and the boat returned to the New York State Boat Launch next to the Fort Ticonderoga ferry dock. He was pronounced dead by Essex County Coroner Paul Connery.

Novack and Nadeau were participants in the Connecticut Outdoors fishing tournament. Town of Ticonderoga Supervisor Robert Dedrick said the tournament has been an annual event for the last 5 to 6 years.

Nadeau’s mother and 16-year-old brother were passengers in the boat. Their names were not immediately available from police.

This has to be the most horrific experience any parent or family member or friend could ever experience. Dan was a beautiful soul and i love him dearly. My heart aches in the worst way for the loss everyone is feeling. I am so grateful for all those who have been there for my mother, Lisa and Tommy. To my brother and Diane- I can not express the sadness I feel in my heart and can not even begin to comprehend your loss. I love you both and in whatever way I can be there for you is all I can offer. My sincerest sympathies and prayers to Dan's father and his family also. I will miss your smile and the sweetness of your heart Danny boy!

There are no words that will express how sorry we are for the loss of Dan, such a young vibrant life. He had a smile that was just impossible to miss and a heart full of joy. Nate, our love and prayers are with you and your family during this sorrowful time. You are a huge part of our family and our hearts go out to you. Diane, from mother to mother, I wish there were words I could find to comfort you, but nothing I can say can soothe the loss of a child. We offer our love and sympathy to you and to Chris during this sad time. We feel honored to have known Dan and to have seen your light and love shine through him!

I was shocked to hear this as I had been in that boat with Chris the day before as a co-angler. We rode 30 miles through a horrific thunderstorm and Chris got us back safely. Dan and his family came up during the weigh-in as a nice surprise for Chris. Chris kept saying through the day how much he missed them and was looking forward to seeing them all down at Ti. Please post any info on the wake or funeral.

Wayne Nadeau, Father of Daniel and Nathan. May you find the strengh to carry on. This will forever change you. Your children are everything important in your life. I know that. You taught them everything about living life to the fullest. I saw that.
“God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.”

“BUT God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.”

Im sorry I really never got to know Dan. I do remember he would always walk down to hallways in school with a smile on his face, always going out of his way to help people. To the Nadeaus and the Novaks, your family is in my heart and my prayers. Dan, rest in peace, your bright smile will be missed.
