The US COAST GUARD AUXILIARY is also an active in Recreational Boating Safety and seeking volunteers.
This is the civilian branch of the US Coast Guard who supports them in the the Recreational Boating Safety Mission. Auxiliary members teach boating safety classes, inspected boats for federally required safety gear, patrol our harbors and are trained and ready to render assistance to boaters in distress.
You do not need a boat to join. Members are required to be US Citizens over the age of 17 and there is no upper age to join the USCG Auxiliary.
Check out the web site at: http://www.cgaux.org/ or Google COAST GUARD AUXILIARY and your City for a Flotilla near you.
