So I was wondering why the article said "Codorus State Park Manager Warren Werntz said this morning officials were not releasing the name of the victim out of respect for the family" but it gives away her name anyway. Good job on respecting the family. I do pray for her family and friends, God Bless.

My prayers go out to the family and friends of this young girl. No one will ever be able to say why this tragedy occurred, but it is my hope that God will grant them His peace and comfort. May God also comfort and help the distraught yet brave young man who desperately tried to rescue her. Life is a precious gift, and we're never promised another day... make today... and everyday a special memory. Tell someone special that you love them...

At a time like this, I don't think it matters if you know her name or not. In the time you took to write your comments, you could have said a prayer for Jocelyn and her family. Yes, her name is Jocelyn, she is a real person, not just "a 15 year old female". Pray for her.. pray as hard as you can for her family and everyone involved.

I noticed that too... I don't know how they managed to mess that up. I guess they don't review their work before it's posted. Either that or it was done out of deliberate ignorance.

If you read the article - the Park Service was not releasing her name but her Pastor gave her name. I don't think anyone "messed up".

If you read the article correctly - "officials were not releasing the name of the victim out of respect for the family" but her pastor did feel it was appropriate to divulge her identity. I can only assume that he wanted the community to know who this young lady was so we could pray for her family and friends who are going through such a horribly difficulty ordeal right now. I for one am doing just that.

I read the article and I know what happened. That doesn't mean the writer of the article couldn't respect the victim's family -- that's my point.

I read the article correctly -- I understand English. I don't remember seeing anywhere about the pastor "feeling it was appropriate to release her name." It just says he identified her as Jocelyn Rife -- unless I missed something, but I don't feel like reading the article again.

Why don't we not worry about why, who or how the name got released. That is not the point of the article. There isn't a problem with the way the article is written. Concentration needs to be put on the thoughts and prayers for the family and friends of the victim. And also on the recovery team(s) that are searching for her.

If you've never heard a scuba diver talk about dives at Codorus it is very mirky, cloudy water. There is a very uneven bottom and a lot unknown when you dive out there.

So instead of complaining about her name being published - say a prayer for all of the people involved in this incident.

I think someone messed up big time. Number one she is a minor and her name should not have been released. This is the best respect that can be given to her family and friends at such a terrible time in their lives. You do not need to know a name to say a prayer for her family and friends. I think god knows who you are praying for. I have been praying for her family and friends since I heard the tragic news and I did not know her name until a few minutes ago. For her family and friends may you know gods healing hands in this terrible and tragic time in your lives. God Bless you.

Than don't FN read it again and leave this forum. Quit complaining and just pray for the family and rescue workers.

Our prayers are with her.

How did this happen? How does a good swimmer jump into water with no tide or current and drown?

Prayers go out to the family, as this is a horrible event. I was at Codorus yesterday, left around 1:30 just as this group of people was coming into the park.

From the article, it appears someone with her tried hard to save her, but couldn't. To this person: You did the best you good, and IMO, you are a hero for trying to save her life.

To All of you other idiots crying about the way the article was written: I wish any one of you could take that girls place, she still had the rest of her life to get through, you all are a bunch who deserve to be at the end of their's.

Idiots.
