Drowning in simple-mindedness

Thanks for writing the column. The province is considering a proposal to allow the use of Bala Falls for construction of a hydro electric generator.
It is widely agreed that the proposal could restrict public enjoyment of the falls. The “new plan” appears dangerously close to recreational areas and is too close for the safety of members of the public who use and enjoy these waters. Officials ought to be concerned about relocating fast flowing water to a recreational area.
The 2009 deaths at Bala Falls, while tragic, may have been prevented if the victims had not panicked.
Common sense and proper planning are key factors in drowning prevention.
