FYI NBC29: Newsplex actually monitors their posts. Please remove off-topic and abusive comments, such as the comment by "Diesel." This situation, as well as so many others I see on here, are not the place for tasteless jokes. Just because people have access to your forum does not mean you do not have a responsibility to monitor it.

I cannot believe some of the posts people are making. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this beautiful young girl. It saddens me that during such a difficult time for this family/friends people are soooooo inconsiderate.

Our Bill of Rights has already been shredded probably unbenounced to you, and you want everyone to bow to your sense of whats right?

1) I fail to understand why making jokes about the death of a UVA student is worthy of this response, common decency should tell anyone that's not a topic for joking, 2) you can say what you want on a street corner, that's free speech, but NBC29 or any news forum can edit whatever they want, it's their news company and not a public forum, 3) I have read the Bill of Rights, duh, and 4) I am also pretty familiar with the dictionary, and trust me, there is no such word as "unbenounced." Did you have to override spellcheck for that one? Maybe you're smarter than that, too.

And how about you? Everyone should bow to YOUR sense of what's right? Hopefully, NBC29 has common sense and decency, and will start monitoring the posts put on this forum in the future. Just because you can be anonymous on here doesn't mean that you can say whatever you want. NBC29, in operating this forum, has the right and the responsibility to regulate what is posted, so that everyone can be protected. The rights of greiving families, the right of a person to be innocent until proven guilty, the right for a persons honor to be protected and not slandered.

Steve, read the Graf story about the Watkins Child Sexual Assault case if you want a sense of NBC 29's ethics and morals on protecting victims. You will see that small town, Peter-principle reporters like Graf and his ilk have no morals or ethics.

BTW, in another indicator of NBC 29's thoroughness in news coverage...

Take a quick search of the news service from Domenica. It clearly says that the victim was in the water with some others snorkeling when, after dropping off supplies at the beach, the captain of the boat placed the craft in reverse to leave the beachfront. The victim was behind the boat and was struck by the propellor, and was pronounced DOA at the island's hospital.

All these supposed newspeople do is parrot press releases. How pathetic.

So very sad; a beautiful young person's life ended in an instant. Just like that.
Let her passing remind all of us how fragile our existence on this earth is.

SAS is NOT a good program. EVERYONE knows SAS is for wealthy college students to party on a cruise for a few weeks. SAS a good program, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Several UVA kids got kicked out of SAS in the MIDDLE OF THE PROGRAM a few years ago because they were partying too much.

Having said that - this is an awfully horrible and tragic accident. Prayers go out to the family.

Still, don't try to add in that the SAS program is a good one, no it isn't. It is not designed to be academically challenging at all. It is a paid cruise.

No. Some kids were on the beach relaxing. Some were in the water swimming. The boat started backing up and the propeller hit this student.
