Any BUI or DUI checkpoint is an intelligence test since the checkpoint is advertised in advance.

I too believe it is a waste of taxpayers money at a time when we cannot afford it in our Country. Bust everyone drinking and driving but we do not have to use resources that we do not have.

At least the Marine unit had a higher success rate than the CHP and there money pit. One arrest for 46 boaters, how many cars did CHP have to stop to get their one DUI arrest?

Rodney has no problem rewarding deputies with overtime to sit out on the lake and bs , besides it's not your money . Why didn't they do the checkpoint when the drunks are out racing the big boats at 2am .

Collecting unnecessary overtime on the backs of taxpayers is what I like to call "capitalist-socialism. " You get the job security of socialism, combined with the ability to try to make as much money for yourself as you can of capitalism.
That is California is broken. Too many Capitalist-Socialists. You can't have it both ways.

"The BUI checkpoint was intended to reduce the number of alcohol-related accidents and injuries and to enforce other California boating laws on the waters of Clear Lake. Sgt. Ostini said that"

It's too bad that the BUI wasn't in force while Lynn Thornton was still alive!

By the way after hearing the story about Bell, CA. and how much their mitch makes, exactly how much is our mitch paid each year for his outstanding performance?

"Bell, CA residents almost riot over city manager's $787,637 salary"
http://www.examiner.com/x-60483-Long-Beach-Ci...

The residents of Bell, CA almost rioted today when they discovered that city officials were bilking them of hundreds of thousands on trumped up salaries. City manager Robert Rizzo was getting almost $800,000 per year while other officials also took huge sums.

Demopedia reports, "In addition to the $787,637 salary of Chief Administrative Officer Robert Rizzo, Bell pays Police Chief Randy Adams $457,000 a year, about 50% more than Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck or Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and more than double New York City's police commissioner. Assistant City Manager Angela Spaccia makes $376,288 annually, more than most city managers."

LATimes Blog quotes Rizzo, "If that's a number people choke on, maybe I'm in the wrong business, " he said. "I could go into private business and make that money. This council has compensated me for the job I've done."

Indeed a waste of money! If they would stop at a launch ramp lsat in the afternoon they could bag a paddy waggon full of drunken fast boaters.

Perdock is not the only one with a drinking and ego problem.

Why is so much time spent on the past instead of the future? Perdock is history.

Huge waste of money ! Inter-county armed terrorists ! And Lakeport PD gets a huge retirenent bump. I could arm myself and neighbors instead of paying for a bunch of overpaid cops to hastle people who haven't done anything. Meanwhile Foreigners vandalize our towns and gangs move in.
Why don't Democrats get it?
